Do you have a local buick guy who puts down your car's mods or what it runs to other's just to brag about there car and how much better there mods are? Is this a mental condition ? would you conceder this person a friend or just a bulls#1t artist.

What do you mean? the guy's not just ribbing you, he's putting your car (and probably therefore you) down?

That's not a friend. I would tell him to leave before he got something he didn't want

Anyone who talks **** about you is mental, an ******* or both. I have never heard you put anyone or their car down. You do nothing but help people around here. If it wasn't for you I know a lot of guys around here who wouldn't have running cars including me! Thanks for everything some people do appreciate the quality of your character and your car.

I've got a couple chevy guy's that love to talk smack kind of fun to go around with them but they know the truth. I've told them more than once if they want a shot at the title to just bring it to the shop with a pocket full of change and we can settle it no one has come a callin.
There is also a mopar guy in town that was on one of the mope boards and he was asking if anyone else had the fastest car in there town. And was explaining how cool it was. Scott Brown from Straight line jumped in and told him that there was a blue buick in town that was going to hear the his mope was the fastest car in town and might have something to say about it. He deleted the thread from the board  . He ran once in the real street class I ran in this summer stopped and told me his car had run in the nines and how heavy he was at weighing in at 3500LBS then ran a 10.20 something I ran beside him at 3750 and ran a 9.90 something. After watching the tail lights he had nothing to say but that thing fly's. :TU:. I just love racing it is not the fastest and never will be but it sure is fun to give'm a good run :3gears: . To bad she gone :Do No:

Dave I can't imagine this guy giving you a hard enough time to let it bother you. Send him by my way. You've seen me, I'll make him cry, 5'7" or not

i should be careful what i say cos he might be one of you guys but at the friday night hop at big boys this guy has this beaten up old skylark. He says he has about 12 of them. I first saw him going over my car with a small flashlight. I just stood them watching him as he stared at every little bolt, screw, washer, etc. he must have stared at it for about half an hour.. I thought he might be looking to steal something.
I met him at the same place on another night and chatted briefly. He was an older guy and I guess you might say his was one of those buick purists. He went through my engine bay, tutting at the carb (wrong model), spark plugs, wires, everything. Telling me everything that was wrong (non-standard or incorrect for that year). I tried to explain that to be honest I really didnt care. I loved the look of the car, and didnt want to turn it into a low rider or anything but really i have more in my life than ensuring the correct hose clips, labels.. etc. etc..

    NJBuickRacer I'd rather be racing...

If anyone liked to talk smack, I would just tell them to run me. It's kinda hard to run your mouth after someone puts a few buslengths on you in a good street race.

maybe you should remind him that you're not driving an example of a correct restoration? Also maybe that it's not his car

I usually repond to such critics with "So" or "Whats your point?"

I think "and your point is?" is much more annoying.

Guys like this usually create their own rep and end up with no one to talk to. Keep enjoying your car!

Had the same sort of incident locally. Not too many older cars around. When there's one at the body shop I used, seems the whole world wants to stop in & have a look.
I really don't have any problem with this, rather enjoy it.....help yourself.
You have to understand I'm no expert on these old cars. I find great pleasure in driving the Skylark, learning about them & striving to get that original factory look. Made a couple obvious mistakes during the restoration, they will be fixed next time the car gets completely disassembled. Have a date around 2015 in mind!!
About a week before the car was 100% a local fellow with a 70/71/72 455 Skylark
stopped in one evening as we were buttoning things up. I was very, very pleased with the finished product on my first antique.
In about ten minutes he had listed off about a dozen items that weren't "right".
He didn't indicate what was right, just overlooked all that!
I could have burned a hole right through him with my eyes I was so PO'd.
I smiled & went about my work with a buddy, he quietly let himself out, after we both ignored him for a few minutes.
In my own opinion, the fellow was quite selfish in not wanting anyone else to have a nice ride, similar to his. Heard this about him before, was proven that evening.
Life is just too darned short for this sort to bother me.
