last week at the cruise i saw one of those shelby cobra kit cars with a viper v-10 in it.....50k and it was yours.....
Re: Re: Sleepers or interesting motor swaps... Nope, the 455 was discontinued after 1976. It was replaced by either the 400 poncho (small block) or the 403 olds (small block). I like to see all these responses. Sounds like you guys have thought about this before, I know I sure have! Keep 'em comin'. Oh and Rob yous a funny guy :moonu: . Patrick
Ii had a 57 Buick Special 2dr hard top that looked all original, but it was on a later chassiswith a 455- 400 turo and all the late model underpinnings. I disturbed a lot of people with it, because an old guy in an old Buick should be easy pickings, but I surprised them. :3gears: :3gears: :3gears:
This is my idea of a fun driver.......hot Stage 1 driveline painted in factory AMC colors and of course with all the AMC decals...very quiet exhaust...should be good for some mid-low 12's on the motor and that cargo area affords lots of places to hide a power adder for some real top end charges.
Ok i got a good one for ya... how about a W-Body Grand Prix with a GN powertrain? www.conleyracing.com goto car corral and there she is...
IMAGINE THIS........REALLY IMAGINE THIS... BUICK 455 WITH ZOOMIES TO THE SKY..... IN AN OLD MINI COOPER ** the rest of this post has been removed due to content. this is a family-friendly board, please consider that next time you post **
If you really want to do this - I have the WAGON FOR YOU !!! Shoot me a PM ---------------------------------- At the BPG Nats was a Mazda RX7 Convert. With GN power that was running high 10's :Brow:
The mid 80s 442s were slow. The 307 had little real potential at least per dollar compared to other engines. But nobody would think anything of seeing one with some decent tires and a nice sound. I thought to the eyes of the average Mustang/Camaro owner etc it would look like eazy prey. So I put a 509ci Cad motor in what will be a 442 cloan. Not crazy fast but my goal of a mid to high 11 car with a mild sounding cam should be fun. Naturally a well built Buick 464/494 would also be real cool. I just did the big Cad cause it was so cheap.
DONT SHOOT ME !!! These next 2 are F____Ds and their swaps I think are different A Ford Festiva with a SHO motor in the rear called a SHOgun http://www.fordfestiva.com/multimediaandfun/gallery/grassroots_festiva_shogun.htm A Ford Focus with a 5.0 V8 in it rear wheel drive all bolt in http://www.tcf-v8-focus-conversions.com/Mag-Car/index.html As for the Buicks here a link to alist of Turbo Buick V6 conversions Turbo Hybrid Cars .. including that Turbo V6 RX7 mentioned earlier http://www.TurboBuicks.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=6305&referrerid=0 Me .......I got a ole 88 Dodge Daytona freebie sitting in my backyard, got it mainly converting it to accept a V8 engine and would to love to finish converting it fully to RWD ( like that Ford Focus kit).. dont know yet if I want to go full Mopar or stuff a 455 Buick in there or a Turbo V6 Buick. Converting the it to accept a V8 is the easy part... using a Dodge minivan front suspension(converts it from rear steer to ft) hafta shorten the lower arms thos, a manual Rack from a Dakota, and splitting the crossmember and renforcing it on the ends( to accept a rear sump oil pan) and build the mounts for the rack. Then use a motor plate... the trans mount is a Trans Dapt universal piece / gonna weld it to the underbody pending descion on trans. Just like my 82 Regal , I love the Challenge of Stufffing A Big V8 in a place where it wasn't to begin with!!! :TU: Later
How about a Mini with a Rover V8 (buick 215) in the front...... http://www.geocities.com/jharkola/Viku2.html Greg
I'd like to do a Fiero GT with either a 215 alum or 350 Buick. Both light motors..... There is a guy with a Reatta with a SuperCharged V6 and a 5 spd manual.....pretty cool. Bruce
Last November on my way to Disneyland with the family I saw a '41 Packard Darrin. The Packard was packin' a Viper drivetrain on a '96 Corvette chassis. Gentleman and wife were driving from Portland to Phoenix for some street rod nat event. I don't have pics of the car handy here but here is a picture of a '40 Packard Darrin.
I had a friend that put a 350 chevy in a vw beetle and then wondered why one side of the exaust was stronger than the other. I asked how he could tell. I put a nailhead and th400 in a 64 el camino. It had hair on its chest. Doc
