    Howdy
Rode in dads truck in grade school a 54 ford f-150 with a 472 Caddy. We called the truck old friendly since anything over 55 the front fenders would wave at you! It was many different colors but the int. was white with the caddy power seats and tilt wheel.
Now I have an 82 Olds wagon with a 350 Buick But at this point the power level is not up to my standards! The motor was out of an 79 Electa or somethin it was big and green. Still had the oe hoses and belts. But the front bumper was moved back many inches.

Still looking for the time to put the 430 I have into my latest project car~ a 1974 Jag XJ12L. Old mans sleeper 4 door sedan with big block power and a shot of juice just for fun against a Rustang or Vette. And yes, baby seat in back.

I have a '86 Chrysler Fifth Avenue which I am slowly warming over to drive and handle. Surprise a few people when grandma's old sedan leaves them at the lights and doesn't wobble into a ditch on the first corner!

I'd love to shove a new Hemi in it, with a supercharger of course...

I did a 1969 Vauxhall Victor which we pulled the 1.6 liter 4 cyl and fitted a 350 SBC with comp cam, headers, etc. etc. and that thing was crazy! Kept it on the original 13" steel wheels with the fattest tyres I could get on there (195/60x13 I think)

Remember this thing is about the size of a Ford Focus or whatever...

Kicked ass, but sold it recently.

I do a quick search `round the net for one of those every 6 months or so. That'd be ridiculously cool.

    How about a Skyhawk?

Just north of Clarion Pa there's a private collection of cars (I call it a mini-junkyard) There is a late 40's Studebaker sitting on a 4x4 Blazer frame with a Buick 455 under the hood. The guy who used to own it is local. He never had time or money to finish it.

Let's see if any of the LONG ISLAND boys remember this car.

Back when we used to hang out in Belmore on Friday nites.........a guy showed up with a 1990 Honda CRX..........it had the functional Honda motor and trans up front...............but stuffed in the back was a Blown & Injected Big Block Olds with Turbo 400 & a Ford 9" rear with Monster Meats.

The car was drivable with either combination. I don't think he had anyone challange him to a race.

Back in my high school days, my Auto Mech. teacher had a Vega there up on a steel I beam frame, with a set of 44in ground hog tires... powered by Twin Olds 455's:eek2: :eek2: He used it as a pull car to push and pull stuff around the shop... That thing was MEAN. (although, not much of a sleeper:Dou: )

I've been toying with the idea of squeezing a SC3800 in my 5sp Pont. Sunbird.... may actually get to it in a while as I already have most of the parts:Brow: :Brow:

Ah, a subject close to my heart. I'd like to do a GM 3800SC into an older Pontiac 6000 with whitewalls and plain hubcaps. Of course, my heart is with big boats that run fast.

  16. This is EXACTLY what some friends of mine are working on! They have a 77 Le Mans with a 74 Grand Prix interior and a nicely built Buick 455 bored to 462. Full set of Cragars and white letter tires.

They're having ignition issues with the MSD (engine fires but quits as soon as you let the key back to the "run" position) as well as sorting the wiring mess but after that it'll just be a paintjob and time to hit the road, real hard!

I remember that crx, he is still around - A buddy of mine saw it at bald hill a couple of weeks ago.

Here is another one to test the memory of Long Island and Queens Street racers. In the early to mid 1990s there used to be a 1958-59-60 style squarebird Thunderbird convertable in white with chrome reverse wheels that was running a buick 455. I used to see that car on Francis Lewis Blvd. all the time and a couple of times at bellmore when it was still around. I haven't seen the car in five years at least but it was a pretty quiet car but very fast - a perfect q-ship.

My father's cousin has a 1976 jag v-12. It is the third xj12 off the assembly line. He purchased it at auction with documentation. It is the only car painted liberty red, the only car built from the factory with a black velour interior, and the original owner of the car was John Glenn. Apparently the car was a gift from jaguar to Glen, but since he was living in florida at the time he specified they remove the leather interior and put in black velour to help with the heat. After the took possession of the car, with 12K on the clock, he took the car to GM jag in florida and had them put in a worked 454 Chevy. My 2nd cousin has the original v-12 in a crate in his garage, and drives the Jag around every so often. Two years ago he let me drive it for a while and I loved it. the 454 is lighter than the v-12 that was there and the thing has some get up and go. Someday I'll make enough money to buy that car off of him.

With that buick in there the jag must finally be a civillized sports car , being that the car weighs about as much as a full size buick (my 2nd cousin told me once his 454 jag weighed in excess of 4000lbs). With that cowl hood it must be hard to see out of, seeing as the cowl is half as high as the windsheild. Still that is an awsome car. GM powered jags are not all that uncommon but that has to be the first buick powered one I have ever seen. Aside from my cousins' xjs, there is a 350 powered xjs and 2 xj6s on Long Island that I know about, plus one 455 pontiac powered on I saw at a show once. The body guy that does work on my mother's car used to have a triumph stag with a 350 chevy in it, i thought that was a pretty weird engine to have. I once saw at his shop (years ago) an original mini cooper with a buick GN turbo v6 stuffed in it. Basically the engine seperated you and the passenger stupid enough to ride with you in a very tight passenger compartment. I wish I had taken pics.
