Don't worry about the Chevy in your Buick. We have to do whatever we can to keep enjoying our cars. I put a SBC in mine because I already had the motor and my Buick needed one at the time. Sure, I've been called every name in the book for it but the important thing to me is that I got to keep enjoying the car. I'm building a 455 so the car will eventually end up with a Buick heart again but to perfectly honest that seemingly indestructible little Chevy has been a lot of fun and hasn't caused me an ounce of trouble so far with 8,200 miles, some of them being pretty hard ones, and 97 passes down the dragstrip :3gears:

Funny how we get all kinds of comments from others on our power plants. When I was searching parts to rebuild my Buick I had more people tell me to drop in a chevy than said it was cool that I kept the Buick. The motor was part of the reason I wanted a Buick.

I think I'll hold on to them for now. Who knows, some day I might get a wild hair, find I have too much money in my bank account and build one up.

Have fun with the BBC 454 for a year or two and show everyone how good it runs.

Then one day, it will go much faster and sound like something they've never heard before....(but,you have installed TA's mountain cubed aluminum engine with all the hidden goodies)...
    ..then you can say
"Oh it's just an ole Stage Two Buick with PORTED heads"

Happy New Year, -time for a New Year resolution...uh..uhmm.

Well this reminds me of my favorite T.V. commercial. Where the retired D.I. is a therpist. "Let go down to mamby-pamby land and get you confidence." " Tissue?" " You jack wipe!!!"

I would like to know why everyone thinks a 454 can't run as bad assed as a 455? I have a buddy that runs a 70 Chevelle on the street and rips low 10's.I have seen his wife drive it to the grocery store on several occasions as well.. Since so many on here think it's a sin to swap a BBC in their Buick, I can take it you will be paying to have an expensive Buick motor for my car. I would like a Tomahawk block,Stage 2 heads, headers and the like. Please forward the money to JW and he can decide what internals for my enigne, which you can pay for. Steve has done what many have done before him as well as after him. If you don't like it..Pay to have it changed back. I am sure he will appreciate the thought. Whatever happened to the old days of hot rodding? Like the guy who posted the Falcon with of all things....GASP!!!..a nailhead motor. Wonder what year Buick sent motors to Ford to do that? But you all liked that...

I like seeing a Buick motor in a Buick and a Pontiac in a Pontiac and so on. But I understand if your going to race, a Chevy motor is less expensive and easier to get parts for then Buick motors. I know you can get a Buick to run as well, but from a dollors and cent's point I would run the Chevy. Why do you think GM stopped building Buick, Olds and Pontiac V8's I'm sure it was cost, reliability and popularity. At a cruise in or car show I will walk past a GTO, or GS with a Chevy motor, just my 2 cent's.......

It may come as a surprise, but I actually agree with everything you said. Lucky for me I don't care if people oh and ah over my 'lark at a cruise in, its kind of a rat anyway (faded paint, dings, dents, and a rattle can flat black hood).... I prefer to shock and scare those people instead.:TU:
