Its a late 90's GM production color they used on Corvettes and the factory white interior. The best part is hearing that TA 290-08 cam idle at 800 rpms through the MagnaFlows and x pipe. Music to my ears. I hope to get it to the track for a pass later this year but I will only get one pass if you know what I mean!!! Ok maybe a couple if I hit the brakes at the 1/8th mile mark.:bglasses: I am hoping for a high 11 second run with that Tri Shield mule under the hood. It has a Tri Shield swith pitch, 3.73 12 bolt, no hop bars, and I have the air bags still sitting in the box. Thats for postive feed back. Cole I will be at the Back to the 50's the weekend of June 19th -21st in St Paul.
I cant stop drooling on my keyboard.. Ed...that is the nicest blue I've ever seen...your 64 is ...well...awesome.:kodak: I better plan driving from S'toon to Fargo and look see myself...and get my 64 done at the same body shop....take 'bout 12 hours...lol That blue reminds me of the factory Nordic Blue my Olds Cutlass SX was painted. Wow...*speechless" Mark
Opps!! lmao forgot to mention...super sano engine compartment too... Can you pass on any tips?..I'm just in the process of a 300 to sbb 350 swap. Mark
Man this thread is killing me! I have to get a 65! I love my 67 but I need a 65. there is a 64 with no engine that I would love to get my hands on. No engine, $1500 with a 10 bolt posi, fresh suspension work, clean body, and it's only about 800 miles from my house! I'm trying to figure out how to make it work. I keep hitting all around the 65 that I want.
Ed, your car is beautiful. :beer I'll definitely be watching for it every time I cruise I-29/I-94 this summer.
Re: 64 special convert V6 Hi Guys, Just thought i would post my little 64 special i picked up for a song a couple of years ago. Have not done anything with it yet. I was not really into convertibles so i kept putting the guy off...after about nine months i couldnt hold off any longer and picked it up. He even reduced the price by $100 when i actually went to get it. Base car with V6 but it is my first vert. Gary
Re: yes joe Hi Joe, I will be driving it. Just need to tighten up the front end and fix a little engine stumble....hopefully something simple! I thought this car would catch your eye. Cheers, Gary
Re: yes joe It needs a tighter power steering box. I swear to god dude, I put a 220 box in every 64 65 I had and it's like night and day. I buy NPD 65 chevelle boxes. Direct bolt in. I bet if you change the plugs cap rotor and wires it'll purr like a kitten. My 64 special has the V6.
Thanks Joe, i'll look up the steering box what does the 220 signify? I was kinda thinking the same with the wires/cap etc. If i get stuck i'll see if you can help me resolve it. I'll keep you posted... Cheers, Gary
It's the price. It's around 200 and you need to give them a core deposit. Which you get back when you send them the old one. So what you can do is, use it in the convertable until your ready for your 4 speed project, then pull it and do a swap so you don't give it away if you sell the vert.
Re: 64 special convert V6 Nice Nice car. I've never had a convertible. I would love to have one to drive around on the few nice sunny days that we get on the Washington coast.
Gary Drive that lil beauty:kodak: to S'toon...I'll tune 'er up for you!:beer Nice vert....very nice Mark
I would love to, but I'm trying to figure out what to sell to buy a $1500 car that's about 800 miles away. This weekend when we were out in the Buick the wife said sell the 67 to get a 65. Problem is I don't want to sell the 67. She also said to figure it out and she'll drive the 65 and I can drive the 67, so that's something we have to get straight too! I've been racking my brain trying to figure out how to get the rig. Only thing I've got left that I could sell for that much money is a rifle, and I'm not sure I want to sell it, plus the car would be gone the day I sold the gun. Always works that way. I would be interested in hearing about your 64 special you are trying to sell, but 2K for the car plus transport 3K miles...
Mark, I have TA frame pads and mounts installed with a T-400. The cross member brackets were cut off and rewelded in the correct spot by a guy named Josh when Jim at Tri Shield let me use his mock block and tranny case. The vert has a boxed frame. We installed and dinged the headers with the mock set up before sending them to be coated. The 350/350 swap should be a bolt in and nothing to worry about with the cross member. I had to cut out the Chevy motor mounts that were welded in my car. The body shop used a 65 core support I had to creat a high bred cross for the cross flow radiator since the 64 was a down flow and did not hold a 4 core. The best thing is I left the engine idle in the garage for 20 minutes and the temp wil not go over 175. It has a fan clutch that Jim recommended and I have a 160 stat in it. The pulleys are all of a 67 non AC GS400 along with the shroud and top plate. The gay air filter is a temp and I will be putting on the competion series Thermoquad 1000 soon or buying a HP 1000 that ran real strong on the dyno. Thanks again for all the positve feedback:3gears:
I like 67s too and this is the next car if I can afford it. :dollar: I will be all stock. Its my 67 vert GS400 4 speed car that is red car, black interior (was bench), and white top. It has a blue interior and different top out of a different car.
