Its a 74. The 1950 through 53 Chiefs were 80". Relative to the bagger post. Here is one that Buick and bike related.
You win the booby prize! I was just checkin' to see if you had yer game on! Another trivia question and it aint about the ape-hangers... what did they call those exhaust pipes? ws
My first ride was a 750 Triumph chopper back in 1974...unfortunately no pics from back then Now my Lady and I ride in a little more comfort on a Royal Star Tour Deluxe.
I'll have to scan some old pics of some of the other bikes I owned. Started out with a brand new 1970 Honda CT 70 and went up in size from there over the years. And here's a pic of the last bike I owned. A 2002 Honda VTX 1800C I bought brand new. Whole lotta oompah that one!
And here is my '98 Super Glide, loaded up and headed to Myrtle Beach Bike Week. It was my favorite of all the new Harleys I have owned.
Got my first bike at 13 a 1965 Honda 65. Proceeded to saw off the rear fender put on a knobby tire and go hill climbing in a local gravel pit. Two inches of suspension travel! Got my first street bike a 1967 Honda CL77 scrambler at 16 before I had a car. Decided to go dirt bike racing in 1978 and got a Husky 360. I was the worst dirt racer ever and still hold the track record at smith road raceway for crawling off the track after the crash!! Moved on to road racing just to bend up the forks on my brand new (First new bike) KZ 550. After repairs I wisely gave up on racing and went touring. Rode that 550 to Florida and up and down the blue-ridge parkway so many times I forgot how many. Then the first big sport-touring bike a Kawasaki concours. Three conks later my primary bike today is a 2012 conk 14. I have a bad habit of not selling my bikes when I quit riding them. All my old bikes but two are stashed some where on the farm. They take a lot less room than cars.
No not that one, but I do have a couple of mug shots within my background. Been in the slammer a few times overnite awaiting to see the judge, never served any time. Wish I had the money I paid my slick Jewish lawyer. Had him on the payroll back then! I did skate on a few things that should have stuck but he was a golf buddy of most of the judges so he saved my ass on many occasions. All is well as I'm a good boy now. BTW Mike, I'll be at the Beaver Bar (3 bands on the property) and Suck Bang Blow (5 bands on the property) in Murrels Inlet rockin' with the bikers at Bike Week (Insane FUN). Let me know when you'll be in town.
I was one of those d*#m crotch rocket guys in my younger day. Had an 03 GSXR that was pretty built (and on the bottle). Man that thing was fun, but I don't have the guts to ride one like that anymore. Saw 180-ish (it was hard to look at the speedo) once. Never again. Luckily I survived, got the T-shirt and the story, I'll fold. One of the few times the wifey went riding with me, she hated that bike. Did a fair amount of work on bikes on the side at one time, and spent some time on this raider. It was a bad mofo! And the one that got away, my grandfather's '54 pan. I hate myself everyday for not doing what it took to purchase it from his estate when he passed.
I won't be at Bike Week this year, I am currently without a Harley (or any other street bike). When we did go, Suck Bang Blow in Murrels Inlet was one of our favorite spots. Do they still let guys (or girls) do burnouts in the bar? They used to let people ride their bikes in the front door, put their front tire against the foot rail of the bar and do burnouts! It was wild and smoky. It would get so smoky you couldn't see your hand in front of your face...
Wheels Through Time as well as the Barber Museum are great places to spend a day. Motorcycle Mecca ! Every once in a while Dale starts a bike up on the floor ! It is worth the trip. First bike is a TTR 125 with a YZ85 front fork, repositioned rear shock, ATC 200 carb and FMF pipe. 2nd bike is a YZF600r with revalved front forks, YZF750 swing arm, Fox TC and a Hindle / Micron system Next 2 are my 1st gen SV 650. Two brothers exhaust, ZX10 rear shock and revalved forks. 96 BMW RT is the next 2. Staintune exhaust, Pulling her apart for its first clutch spline lube, tune up, adding air horn and a good tune up / injector flow. Going into the tank to change the hoses, filters and pump isolator. Great handling and even better riding bike. 2000 W 650 Vertical twin 360 degree crank. It is the Y2K version of the Triumph Bonnie's of the early 70's Not pictured is a 72 Suzuki TS 90 that is a local bike but a TS90 was the 1st bike I owned
Just curious, how does a chopper handle in the snow?? lol. This is the best thread on V8 in a while. Some cool bikes. I started young, 2 or so, with dual sports, then a couple of dirt bikes, then a couple Yamaha cruisers and a brief stint with a ninja, then more dirt and today a badass dual sport. 2005 KTM 450 EXC with a 540 kit, 12.5:1, bigger cam, bigger valves, bigger carb, electric start, liquid cooled, a foot of travel and a disc front and back, 250 lbs and street legal! All those times I got chased by the cops when I was a kid riding my dirt bike on the street and now I can do it legally!
SBB is pretty radical. They got the stoners, they got the outlaws. they got the grey beards. they got the diesel chicks, they got the new big money bikes and every kind of scooter that you've never seen before. A fun week and most everyone behaves........and yes, you can do a burnout inside or outside the building. They even have a tire repair shop to replace your wasted tire.
