dunno how I doubled the pix upo_O
Top pic.XC (CrossCountry) .outside the Deepwater Inn a 24 hrs pub with great food and budget rooms or camp out back for free..Biker friendly!...there's burnout marks in the back bar.
Next my Vegas in the main street of Nimbin (hippy capital of Oz)
And my XC outside the Clunes pub, for a bloke who don't drink my bike seems stop outside a lot of watering holes!
Next stopped for a piss on the Kyogle road, had to take a pic of the Vegas relaxing after a fast run from Woodenbong.
And then on the way to Bathurst I took a side road to Hill End a historic gold rush town all old buildings, got my swag on the back to sleep in the 4 days Im flag marshalling at Mt Panorama historic car racing, and at time on the roadside if Im not staying in a cheap room in a pub, or getting lucky with a local lady:p

    I have this one.
    FXE from 1978.
Wonder why there are four pluggs? Also have big lifter noise after 1/2 hour driving.

Hey Goran... The heads are after market jobs with probably a dual magneto thought in mind, as in aircraft. Dump the hydraulic lifters; replace with solids and adjust every year or so. Also, I'd suggest Pennzoil 70W aircraft oil or at least Harley 60W. Both are non detergent anti dispersing oil types (non foaming-air in lifters). These guys are tractors.. keep 'em simple! ws

Well, it aint quite a motorcycle, but it is a distant relative...
    1963 Vespa.jpg

1963 Vespa, original beat-up paint. 6 hp but someday I'll put nitrous on it and get it up to 9.

Was my dad's toy for years. He knew I lived in the flatlands of Florida so he gave it to me. Only reason I keep it is it used to be his.

Here is a video from a little bit ago on my old bike (2006 Yamaha YZF600R). Running up South Grade on Palomar mountain here in San Diego, CA. This bike, while not powerful and heavy, was a great bike. Never let me down, survived 4 track days without skipping a beat, and was a very comfortable cruiser.

Sold it back in 2015 to purchase my current Ninja.

    Enjoy!

Here is a pic of my current bike up at the same road:

You Rebuilt your Gearbox, are you happy with that ?
    Thank you very much. Goran

H-D's run on an all roller bearing bottom end. Straight 60 or 70W is good, altho H-D does recommend a 50W. Typical oil pressure s about 10 lbs. On the Shovelheads, pull the collar with the spring down and the spreader with the screwdriver loop out. Run the adjuster down all the way and remove the push rods and tubes. The new set will have the rods and lifter guts. Three rods are identical and the 4th longer one goes to the front. The hydraulic guts lift out and the solid part with the adjuster slips right in. You may want too clean with some carb cleaner and assemble with a drop of locktite. Run the adjuster all the way down and install the new rod(s) with 3 each (!) new cork seals. Bump the motor over to BDC (bottom dead center on the lifter) and adjust so that the rod spins by finger just a bit tight. The temp rise will cause the cylinder to lengthen about .020" and should net you .000" at temperature. Recheck the tension after locking the nuts. Youll need three lifter (skinny) flat wrenches aka tappet wrenches. IIRC either 3/8" or 7/16". Done and run. Theres no need to pull the lifter blocks (4) out.

You may notice that lifter noise that you get from pumped down hydraulics (!) more when the fuel tank is empty. You can recheck periodically, but once they are good, a check once a year is all youll need.

Usually I would have done the trans myself, but I liquidated all the special tools 30 years ago. Mine needed a new main shaft, bearings and all gears (Andrews wide ratio for mine) and a new "Less Highway sprocket" since the reduction was seriously lacking around town. Idling around town n 2nd gear was about 25-30 mph. Now its 3rd with a touch of throttle so it doesnt "lope" along. The Andrews "C" grind cam didnt help on that issue either.

I went from a 23 to a 22 tooth job and could use a 21T or a bigger sprocket on the wheel. The front one is a bitch to change taking all the primary drive stuff off to access. After it was done I still had shifting issues and it turned out to be bad springs in the ratchet top that the rebuilder ate with my labor on the re-install etc. ws

The link didnt work, perhaps this one will. I noticed that two push rods (PR's) are the same length and two are now longer . It used to be 3 and 1. The longest goes to the front. Shop around.

Theres a million custom suppliers that sell this stuff. Cut your own deal, but stay away from rockauto, in my opinion. Also dont forget the new cork seals. THREE per tube. Have a nice small light duty spring to catch the tube and hold it up and out of the way for adjustments. Do you have a shop manual? This is really pretty basic and done in an hour! ws

J&P cycles in Anamosa Iowa are one that comes to mind. Stick with a name brand like Andrews or S&S
