I am going to drive my neighbors french car (i still have the keys) to target to do all my x-mas shopping.
There was another shell game played recently.... I can't remember if they bought Macy, Or Macy bought them. With all these mergers, and buy-outs that these corporations go through, it's hard to keep track. Who's on first you know.... The Salvation Army does many good things. But, I do get bothered by the bell ringers being everywhere you go. I always throw some money in one pot every season and then I am done.
My problem with the SA isnt with the way that they collect funds, or the wonderful work I am sure that they do, but with the "General" in charge of the Chicago chapter. Some time ago, maybe 15 years a hugely popular radioguy here, Steve Dahl, at the holiday season did a fund drive for the SA at local concerts and live show's that he did. After a month or so of this they had over 10 grand from listener donations to present to the SA.....well the "General" wouldnt accept the money becouse as he put it.....'the SA wouldnt accept donations from the likes of Steve Dahl or his listeners" The money made its way to the local food bank and good came of it but that guys holier than thou attitude really turned myself & many thousands of others here away from wanting to give them anything. D.
