Oh by the way, I meant to say "if I ever bought another buick" in that sentence up there. Thanks

we dont hate it but its a shame to see one under the hood of a Buick. a Buick should stay Buick powered and not chevy...

That would be me. :) I tell you, test driving an engine first is THE BEST way to buy it. :TU:

Kinda figured I'd see you on this thread. Happy to hear the convertible is running well. Sounds like you have been a lot busier than me. I'll have to buzz by sometime and take a look at it.

How did you come across the Silverado TBI unit? Junkyard?

my cousin owed me an engine for some stereo/alarm/remote starter installin i did for him in his 94 chevy truck... the fuel pump went out of the 89 truck one day when we were backin out of his driveway ... he asked if i wanted that motor/TBI/Tranny ... i jumped on it.
i had driven th truck and liked th way it ran ...
th buick is awaiting its new paint job right now ... but when its back together you will have to come down and drive it again..... you will be shocked at how fast it takes off ...... and can always get better than 20mpg on the highway .....you will see why i did it the way i did... the car runs excellent.
if there is somethin i want to change on a car .. i change it. i have ton of friends that have "original" versions of cars and that is cool. they brag about how much their car is worth on the market .... a car that is valuble on the market doesnt pertain to me as far as my buick goes because i will not be selling mine... i wanted a car that i can drive the rest of my life and not spend countless hours trying to find certain parts for. so a more modern engine that i could buy easily attainable performance parts for was my choice. i might give it to one of my nephews someday if i build me an even better 74.

freed, did you ever get your buick on the road?
did sara find her a buick yet?

i am prefer letting someone hammer on the pedal before i sell them a motor. it lets the motor do the talkin(and i think you had it talkin PLENTY loud):3gears: :3gears: :3gears:  that day.

My car runs and drives now, but I'm collecting parts for the restore, so I'm not driving it much. I didn't end up having to use that engine in my car, so it is sitting on a stand in my garage. I had a friend offer to help me throw that 455 of yours in my 91 S-10. I think that sounds weird as heck, so I'm toying with taking him up on it.

Sara has decided she loves the look of a boattail Riv, and that's fine by me. We bought her a 2002 Malibu to replace the SHO, so we'll get her that boattail once I get the bodywork done on my GS (and figure out a place to park another occasional driver). I already know where there's a great boattail parts car. :)
