Will also fit 68-70 Nova. Will NOT fit any Camaro with 4 wheel Disc Brakes, as the front rotors are different on those. All cars in this period of manufacture used 2 piece rotors, with a seperate hub and rotor hat. Almost all of these you ever find are turned down and are under the minimum measurement of .965 inch and all available replacements up until this time have been one piece manufactured like late 1970 and newer rotors. Any NOS ones that turn up go for high money!!!!! As you can see in the enclosed photo, these measure 1.002, and will renew both the performance and appearance of your brakes. These were manufactured using NOS originals as a pattern and test fitted on both single piston and 4 piston caliper equipped cars. All are equipped with bearing races and are ready to install. A real must on a highly restored restoration project. Payment in 7 days via paypal or credit card. Call for approval of other payment options. Very cool. Had to put 1-piece aftermarket rotors on the Stage 1 and kinda regretted it. Will have to get a pair of these at some point.
You're probably right and rotors are one area where you want good quality steel for sure. Nothing like spending the money and doing all the work just to have them wear excessively fast.
Kleiner used to sell reconditioned two piece front rotors. I believe he recycled original hubs and found or had made new rotors to fit on them. Glad I have enough originals for my cars. Duane
I bought a disc brake set up from a 70 that has the 2 piece rotors. It's all pretty rusty but I would part with the rotors. (not trying ti hijack your thread) Allen
well personally I will buying a set of them. Maybe more I dont see anyone else making them.... I also have 7 sets of the dam things and they are all wore out. This kind of thinking wont get any other parts built. When stuff is available we should try to support it. It wont be long before people wont make anything. Some of you are making judgement on them before anyone has a pair in use...............
then you better stop buying auto parts right now. next to walmart, the auto parts business is probably the second biggest importer of overseas parts. scrounge the china websites and you'll name brand racing parts made overseas. and you can buy(qty) them yourself. so who do you want to blame......
Ok but who the hell is gona squat down and check to see if you got 2 pieces on the GS ? I would perfer to stop with a solid US rotor than some 1/2 assed China 2 piece job even Buick figured out solids were the way to go back in late 70.
"Ok but who the hell is gonna squat down and check to see if you got 2 pieces on the GS" When the cars are on the show field this is one of the things we check on the Concours cars. It's easy to tell from looking thru the rally wheels. Duane PS. I'm not knocking the repro parts, just giving another alternative that people can use to recycle what they have instead of throwing them away.
So does Kleiner still offer them? If not, this seems to be the way to go, especially if it's for a car that isn't gonna see much street time and zero track time. -- Steve
I don't know, why don't you call him and ask? I haven't needed any so I never tracked those parts. I bought my last pair of originals 3-4 years ago at the BPG Nats for $40 for the pair. They are very nice with plenty of meat on them. There are still deals out there if you look hard enough. Duane PS. The judges also check to see if the 71-72 (1-piece) rotors have the cooling groove in them, like the originals.
Since were on the subject...My 70 has one piece rotors with the cooling groove on both sides. Anyone know when they made the change over? Could these be the original rotors? Put another way, did all 70's have (2) piece rotors?
