What would you think, would be the best way to go? Maybe, place a pcv at the draft tube and tap into the back side of the air cleaner? Routing the gases with a rubber hose? In a manner, such that, the gases go through the filter before getting to the carb? And, how to address the oil filler/breather caps? The breathers on the caps should be sealed, yes?

    jamhdit Just nuts about buick's

in one of your post's did you say the guides were bad. so i assume you put guide liners in to fix that.

i read somewhere that nailheads dont take well to guide liners so that could be the problem.

The two are two separate systems,,, you either do one or the other....I would go with the pvc and tap into the runner of the intake manifold....or into the phlenum under the carb... holley makes a spacer that goes under the carb that has a nipple on it that will work....

Ah, bypass the carb, huh? The carb spacer with a nipple would elminate the need to alter the air cleaner (and, I remember with my 73 Olds what a pain it was to take off the air cleaner, and monkey with the attached breather tube). And, the oil filler/breather caps, I would need to seal them, right?
    Thanks, again Doc.

Standard "open" crankcase vent systems need a breather cap and most commonly its incorporated into the oil cap. 60s era California cars started using a "closed" PCV system. Instead of a simple breather cap as the inlet, a line was routed from the air cleaner to the valve cover and incorporated a mesh filter. In normal operation, air would be sucked into the engine through the line that went to air cleaner by the PCV valve via manifold vacuum.
In the event of internal engine wear raising crankcase pressure bad enough to cause the system to over load and instead push air the opposite direction back into the air cleaner, the contaminated air would be sucked into the air cleaner and re-cycled insted of blowing into the atmosphere.

Hi fedman Status, we have the same problem. I am thinking if I can remove that smoke in the oil. I hope we can solve our problem. :D

I didn't have a good grasp of how pcv worked.:error: :Do No:So, I've taken a look at some schematics of pcv systems.:Comp: And, now I remember some, of what I learned in high school automotive course.:Smarty: I think,:idea2: I'll try the carb spacer, with a pcv installed at the draft tube location. I'll let the fresh air enter the crankcase through the oil filler/breather caps, as it does, now. Inside the caps is steel wool mesh that acts as filter.

    How does that sound??
