Few things spotted on a road trip to Fairmont Hot Springs for the weekend with the female. We were a few hours early to check in so took a little detour over toward the Anaconda Smelter Stack, which is the tallest masonry structure still standing in the world at 585 feet. Pics kinda suck as the trucks and cars were WAY off the road, so had to use the zoom.
Did a couple drive around aimlessly trips this past weekend. Got some good spotting in....what's that in the field on the trailer in the last pics?
Spotted this little MG MGB GT while out running errands with a buddy of mine today. I think these are pretty cool myself. View attachment 468015 View attachment 468016
Here this whole time I thought you were talking about Dead Zeds porta-service... ZED is dead aint he??? ws
There are some cars around Denver still. I will snap some pictures. I am so anti-stang (sorry Ford people) but this car shows up at a grocery store by my house now and then. Actually very straight. White buckets and an automatic. Is this a 69?
The cars that came with that scoop in '69-'70 had them there. That is a Mach 1 (think GS). They either had that scoop or a shaker those years, depending on engine and options. Shaker is more desirable.
Probably, but could still be a 428. The 351s are Clevelands in '70, which have canted valves and massive ports, but might just be a 2 barrel version.
I will try and catch the owner sometime. Thanks for the info. What makes a Mach One? Just suspension?
There's quite a bit. All are sportsroofs (fastbacks), only certain engines available and all were V8s (Mustang II Mach 1s don't count), appearance packages, suspension, interior differences, etc. Here is an invoice list for a '69 I found on a forum.
It got worse later on. My car is a real deal Mach 1. Factory 302 2 barrel 141 hp NET, 3 speed manual, 3.00 open rear gear. Ran a 19 in the quarter with 12 year old Lucas rowing the gears. We swapped a 351 Cleveland I bought off the rez into it in my parents back yard before my 13th birthday. Sold the perfectly operating numbers matching engine and trans to a buddy of mine for $125 and have never batted an eye about it. Has a 552" stroker in it now.
