This November 10th, Sunday is the rainout date for the Buick Performance Weekend racing at Raceway Park, Englishtown, NJ It will definately be a packed day as there will be two other rainout date events being held on this day. We were advised to get there early. Entry fee I believe is $30 and there is no extra fee for the Quick 16 Program and there are no by-backs for first round losers. As always the race program is run by the track where as we have little control over the logistics of the day. On the flip side they do work with us when there are any problems. The racing like always on Sundays, is open exhaust if you so please. The posted Buicks classes and winnings are as follows: V-8 Buick Bracket Class: Winner, $100 Runner-Up $ 50 V-6 Class: Winner, $ 100 Runner-up $ 50 Quick 16 Bracket Style Buick Class: (Must be Buick Powered and door slammers, and no corp. engines, can run juice and all electronics) First Round (8) losers get: 0 Second Round (4) Losers get: $ 100 each Third Round (2) Losers get: $ 300 each Runner-Up (1) gets: $ 700 Winner gets: $ 1,300 Low Qualifier: $ 250 Total Sponsored Payout from the Club is $3250.00 The Buick Bracket Class payouts are sponsored by Raceway Park. The Payouts in the Bracket Style Buick Quick 16 Class are sponsored by 13 Major Sponsors of the Buick Performance Weekend. All sponsorship moneys to the Northeast GS/GN Club are 100% payed back into the Quick 16 Program. Now I believe there will be a Quick 8 or something of the sort with the GN v. Mustang Shootouts. The winnings of this is pre-set by the track and organized by the track. Also any participants running in the Mustang v. GN Shootout cannot also run in the Quick 16 Program. This rule is pre-set by the track. Hope this info helps out. Hope to see you all there! Rick Martinez
Hey Rick I'm not running for money.....I'm just runnin for fun......I missed not having my Buick on the road for the last event, so I'm making up for it this time :Brow: . The Skylark is ready to go!!:TU: Jeff (Yardley) I will prob. be on the left side of the concession stand...there is more room there to relax and have some fun. Remember I'm the one driving a primered top with fadded out sea mist green skylark with lots of holes and dents  ...believe me you will see me when you are there :TU: Larry :TU:
Sunday will be a packed day with probably only one time trial. Saturday is an open test n tune from 9-5 and will be a better day to have fun. Many of us will be there for both days. Happy racing. John Csordas
Hell, I'll be wheelbarrowing 3 yards of crushed stone on Saturday, and trying to see if I can smooth out my driveshaft vibration. I am sure I'll get withing .3 or .4 secs of my best time with one run. Wish I could attend, but one day is all I can swing. Have fun gang, and c-ya on Sunday. Yardley
Jeff, I just wanted to tell you I will be there for both days...Saturday in the afternoon...and Sunday morning around 9ish....The meeting spot is still the same, and I will meet you there on Sunday. I'll be sure to bring the time slips down from Saturday :TU: Hope to meet you all again..... Larry (olds442gm)
Ill be there on Saturday around 11ish or so...I have to get the car tuned up first and get the slicks on it first. Hope to get in 3 runs on Saturday and run 1 run down Sunday. I'll see you guys there :TU: . Larry :TU:
I just flipped days. I'll be there Saturday instead. That is unless there is a lot more of us going on Sunday. If the same guys will be there on Saturday as well, I'll come then. I can only do one day, and I figure 3 runs is better than 1. Who's going on what days?
SATURDAY is the day!!! whoo hoo...I cant see spending 30 bucks for 1 run :eek2: . I'd rather get 3 in.....Ill be there Jeff around 10 ish or so.....I'll meet you on the left side of the concession stand! I'll look for your Riv when I get there Jeff...dont go racin without me please! :TU: From what I read in the previous posts on here..the GSCA will be there as well, so I'm sure there will be lots of Buicks there Jeff. Cant wait to see everone again :TU: Larry
I'll prolly be there Sunday in GoldieLox....with a Large "For Sale" sign on it I may even race it....o No: You dont necessarily get ONLY 1 run on Sunday.....just one test run, then if you run the brackets, you definately get a second run.....keep winning and you keep racing :TU: I went 9 rounds one year in the Skylark......can anyone say Brake Fade ??? the last run was hot laping the carou:
Hey Alan if it has a 350 in it I'll run side by side with ya :TU: ....I'm going both days...I just hope I qualify for something when I go Sunday...My Skylark looks like its going to fall apart, but its whats under the hood that counts:Brow: . Would love to race against other 350's there when I go..... Just need something to write some numbers down on my window to bracket race on Sunday. Larry :TU:
no chance for Sat....and if it rains Sat I wont be there Sunday. See.....there's this deck in my backyard in pieces that i've neglected to finish o No: and i cant see doing it once the snow starts droppingou: As for running against you, Larry..... Head up ? No Way !! Dialed in on the tree bracket style ?? :beer Mines' a Low compression 350 2 barrel, non posi.....Gimme a Break !!
Aerial Photo's anyone ??!!?? Im twisting my Buddies arm to see if he'll fly his plane up to the airport right alonside RaceWay park. Then he'd take me (and whoever else want to come:TU: ) up for a few circles of the track. Hey Rick ?? If we use cell phones .....I could time it so I get you launching from the Air !!!! That would make a pretty :bglasses: picture.... Of course the easiest car to spot would be "The Wagon From Hell". Kinda hard to miss the Sporty roof glass from above:Brow:
Latest weather report......65 and Sunny for Saturday and Sunday :bglasses: . I'll keep you guys posted with the weather!:TU: Larry :TU:
Maybe? No car though! Looking at the weather, I have a chance to be in NJ for work again on Monday11/11! Linden Truck plant, Can't bring myself to drag the car out there, my boss is on vacation! till Monday, so can't get approved to extend work with play, weather looks awesome, Yahoo says it's 10 hours to Englishtown from Flint, by way of Canada and NY, and 27 miles west of my home town, and Mom and Dad! I could hook up and go with the '03 GMC Sierra Crew Cab Diesel. But I couldn't leave til late tommorrow (friday) afternoon, and then what if the WX takes a dump? I'm in the same doodoo as Cecil, with all my friends from the NE Chapter. What to do, what to do. I can fly into Newark on Saturday or Sunday morning, and it's over $900 from Flint, Monday not a difference. So what do you think I should do, I can hook up and go east tomorrow afternoon, but I don't think I will make it to Englishtown til Sunday morning, even though it sounds like Saturday test and tune would be a great time to see everyone, let me know what you think I should do, The new truck needs miles so I get the best discount on it, but 'on the road again' is the deal time wise! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!
