Hey Rick I like your 1/8th times! I checked my 1/4 mile slip though we are both set up some what differently comparing the 1/8 to the 1/4, my 1/8th mile time is 5.863 at 117.02 mph with a 1.31 sixty foot. The 1/4 mile time on that run was a 9.25. But as you may have guessed...not on pump gas, Cam 2 114 octane.

I have to tell ya, with that shot you are the wheelie king! Hands down!

Hi guys, I thought my 11:31 was pretty good on pump gas but I am not even close to you guys. I don't know what mine weighs but it is a 72 non air car but everything else is all there yet and working and I am about 210lbs on top of that so I am probably alot heavier than most of you. Mine is at 9.7to1 if I figured things right the last time I had the motor apart. I think my home ported heads are probably weak because it won't make any MPH, it takes real good weather to run 115 MPH. I need to go knock over a bank and get some aluminum heads I guess!!!! :ball: :3gears: Tom

Carl We were looking for a glass hood and bumper as well for my buddies Stage 2 464 78 Skylark. He is tiptoeing up to the high 9 mark. We are trying to lighten the car as well. He has made a few upgrades he has a T400 with reverse valve body and now installing a trans break. He Runs a 225 hp Shot NOS. I also have a 78 skylark.

Just need to up date my E.T. my regal went 10:35 at Cecil on the first wheel standing pass. (I need a picture if anybody got one!) My second pass was a 10:32 @ 128+mph. Lets here about more pump gas race cars, I know there has got to be more guys that are out there running pump gas then this! Heres hoping for lower E.T.s tomorrow! :TU:

Way to go John. Was your trap RPM any higher over there, maybe you had your eyes closed and where hanging on to tight to notice. Go get em tomorrow. Don't be afraid to sling some wrenches around, sounds like that long tow was already worth it.

    Congratulations!

Phil, Great to hear that some others are racing the "too heavy" body like I am. Does your friend with the stage 2 car run pump gas? Any idea what his car weighs? Anybody else out there need 'glass parts for a 76-79 'Lark?? Nova doors and deck lids will fit. Maybe we can do a group purchase and make it cheaper for everyone. There is a place here in Naperville Illinois by the name of Glasstek that does custom work. And I believe that WS Racing in Astabula Ohio does also.

John, congratulations on the new personal best. :TU: I have heard that if a car is gonna be fast it will happen at Cecil. Seems like they were right!

Let's hear from some more of you pump gas racers out there. Maybe there should be a "Race for the 9's" on pump gas? :beer

    Congratulations!

Congratulations to all who raced at Cecil this weekend. Everyone seemed to be flying. Wish I could have been there.

Sympathies to Bobb and his family also. It pains me when a racer injures himself and looses his car.

Went racing myself this weekend..........killed the transmission with a 1.42 sixty foot!! Well, there's always next year. Keep the competition up. There will eventually be a pump gas Buick in the 9's! We need a head that will flow in the mid 400's!

Great, Chris. I beleive that all of us are running something similar to your combination. Was it in the GS in your signature? What did it weigh?

Eric, you should have stopped by & said hi on Fri., my Regal is the green & white one.

Shane, it's really hard to tell about the trap RPM, my 60fts. were actually off a little, my best 60' is a 1.31 at Morocco, my best 60' at Cecil was a 1.38, its possible that the RPMs may have been a little higher there. As for my eyes being closed & hanging on, thats pretty much every pass, thinking about those stock rods flinging around at 6,400-6,500 RPMs and knowing that they are approching 600 passes on them.

The only pass that I made on Saturday was the pass with Bobb in the other lane when his accident occured, that was a 10.34 @ almost 128mph, my mile per hour was up 2-3 from other tracks, so I'm sure that the RPMs were a little higher.

For anyone that doesn't know(and cares), my combination is basically: .030 overbore, 10:5:1 Arias pistons, STOCK rods(polished by me), STOCK stroke-crank cross drilled, Comp. cams camshaft(I don't remember the exact specs or where the cam card is)rollmaster timing chain, STOCK oil pump, NO girdle, STOCK oil pan with homemade baffles along with factory windage tray, Iron Stg-1 heads flow in the 275-278 @.500 range, SP-1 intake, 2" headers, an old Holley 850, (air horn is still intact, never milled or flowed), some old Poston roller rockers not sure of the ratio, it also has the neccessary approved balancer and flexplate. Nothing exotic, it was built by me at home in my garage where I also do my own paint work. The car has a Turbo 400 trans w/ reverse shift valvebody & trans brake that also has nearly 600 passes on it along with a few street miles. Ford 9in. 4:10 gear. It is a "back halved car"(STOCK rear frame rails moved in)with ladder bars, and uses 13X31" M/T slicks. I stop on my way to the track & fill 2 5gal. fuel jugs, and race all day. The reason that this car runs what is does is simple, I've tried to keep the wieght down, the car wieghed 3181lbs. with me in it at Morocco. I'm going to try for 3,000lbs. by next spring.

A "race for the 9's" with pump gas would be cool to do (if somebody hasn't already run it), plus I could procastinate a little longer before assembling my other engine.
