Just ordered the 2.5 inch kit from Jegs. The Jegs kit comes with everything including mufflers for 185. I'll let you guys know how the install goes when I get it, which should be in a day. Fast shipping, ordered the night of the 2nd and it will be here via fed ex on the 5th.

    Mark,
I must apologize for not getting back to you about your exhaust quote. I have been gone quite a bit this summer ( 2 trade shows, Hot Rod Pour Tour and family vacation) and yes things have been a bit crazy around here. There is no excuse as I am generally a stickler for returning calls. I simply dropped the ball in your case. Very soon I will add a dedicated phone number to my web site with answering service so I am not to have this occur again. I am glad to hear you have completed your project and are satisfied with the results. Again please accept my apologies.

Yes please let us know...I may be in the market too.
My headers leak like a b**ch at the collectors cause the last owner put a 2 1/4 system on and welded up the gap and I hate it.

Thanks Curt. No problem. Sounds like you do good work. Maybe we can get together next time.

I got my Jegs get in no time at all. I started the install but have not had the time to finish it. It will now be a little while before I finish it as I dropped the chassis off at the body shop so we could set the body back on the frame. It looks like it will go on without a problem. I think I will have to cut the front pipes to length a little as they are a bit long. It came with the hangers and clamps and everything needed to do the install. Once they are on and the motor is fired up, I'll let you guys know how it sounds.

Flowmaster american thunder and a ragtop. Awesome on the highway, so so in the tunnels... =) I thought they'd be a little tamer.

Installation: So so as mentioned on another post, it is a universal A-body kit. Go somewhere with a lift or enjoy lining up the h-pipe , two mufflers before being able to measure the length of the pipe connecting to the collectors...on your back :spank:

Headers were the hooker comps I believe.

Why? :Do No: Just curious, never had any.

I had some on my 68 when I got it...sounded tinny, exactly like there is no wool/sound insulation in the muffler...and there isn't.

Now the car has a Gardener system and aside from the exh. crossover rattle its perfect.

I had a TA system on my 70 - mandrel bent, h pipe and the biggest 2.5" case ultra flow weldeds (straight through design) I could find...I thought that was perfect too:Do No:

every car seems somewhat unique though...same mufflers on (Adams) Centurion sounded really loud and not so good. Maybe needed the H pipe?

Then I tried a magnaflow huge case straight through design with h pipe on a nailhead(wildcat) and it is so loud its awful! Thats getting a Waldron stock setup WITH resonators to get quiet!

Been some time since the last post but definitely worth an update. Since my stock exhaust is getting louder and louder I was wondering what would be the best system to provide a good yet not deafening sound? What`s hot in 2010?

You can get a great deal on Magniflow systems on E-bay. You get three tip options and all the parts are great quality including brackets and hangers. EVERTHING is SS. I put the X pipe system on my 71 Skylark and it all looks and sounds great. In the end you get what you pay for. The listings on E-bay should be searched for under dual exhaust for your particular car as the vendor will not say its Magniflow until you call him. Saves about $200 off.
