    Torque Tech.

Absolutely fits PERFECT, and an easy install.

    For factory correct, Gardner.

I bought the T/A system with Magna flow mufflers. 3". I liked how the T/A tailpipes were cut at the back. Torque tech and others had them coming straight out the back and I like the turn downs.
I'm sure Curt Hogan is just busy, but I called him, talked to him and he never got me a price. I called him back twice and left a message, still no calls, so I gave up on that. I'm putting the T/A system on now, and so far, looks good and is not a problem to install.

Running the T/A system as well. Quick install, everything went OK, but the driver's side tailpipe hangs funny. Gonna try to move it a bit and if it is fixable from my end.

"Passes everything but gas stations" not so much fun right now!

  7. be prepared to spend 310.00 for the TA 2.5" system without mufflers and an extra 105.00 if you want downpipes for a manifold type application. I'd suggest shopping around a bit and you might find better prices. it's real easy to put the angle cut on the tailpipes yourself

I am also shopping for the best buy for my '68 GS wannabe. I just received the coated TA headers. They look great and slip right in, no problems. The price of the 3" TA system is actually good compared to the other mail-order outfits you can buy from. It's the coated headers that hurt the wallet the most. I'm thinking of getting just the pipes and finding cheaper mufflers somewhere. My car-hobby budget is getting real tight as I come down to the end! I have to cut some corners somewhere if I'm ever to get this thing on the road. :(
I hear a lot about the crossover tube being a good idea. The TA system does not use them, I think. Anyone have input as to whether this is really necessary for a street car?

The gains for the crossover tube will not be very big in my opinion, especially since you say its a street car i would not worry at all.

Mike Williamson ran 11.92 in the quarter with a Q jet, Poston intake, stock manifolds and 2.5" mandrel bent duals. He tried the crossover and actually went slower so he went back to normal duals. Not to say that SOME combos will not gain by the crossover but not ALL combos will.

The crossover really mellows out the sound as well, and I prefer the sound of the non crossover duals.

curt hogans x pipe system. very nice setup. designed for use with headers. and one of the most affordable setups.I personally like it with the turn downs in the back.

Running Waldrons all stainless duals on the cat with there "turbo" mufflers. A little pricey but I will never have to do it again. Fit wasnt perfect but then again im pretty anal. Sounds good though.

Camaro has 3" pipes with cut outs, flowmaster mufflers (which DO NOT suck by the way) and torque tech 3" mandrel bent tail pipes. Torque tech has got it down!!! Even for such a big pipe they fit great and dont rub on anything.

I shopped around and found a SUMMIT brand 2.5" dual system with mufflers for about $160 for use with headers.

16 gage mandrel bent (no kinks) aluminized, comes with EVERYTHING you will need.

I installed it myself on the garage floor with no difficulties. I did use flowmaster mufflers.

I especially liked the rear-of-muffler solid mount bracket provided that uses a urethane bushing to dampen vibration and interior resonance.

I then changed it to a side outlet just for looks only.

I recommend this system if you think its right for you.

Depends on what you are looking for and your budget. I bought the Pypes system and like it. It has a cross-over and is stainless steel. I bought the set with cut-outs, polished stainless exhaust tips and long polished Race Pro mufflers. The whole enchilada was close to $600. Sits in perfect, has a nice thumpy idle (the cam helps) and people look for whose making the music when I get on it. I have used Pypes on my Camaro's and had the same nice fit and sound.

    Adam,

Just looking for a good fitting, good sounding system. I do prefer turn downs and I don't have headers installed.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

I just put the Summit system on my 70 skylark and it fit nicely. Theirs is a header exhaust system, so I had some local muffler shop make some downpipes and I did add mandrel bent turndowns to the tailpipes.

I have the Pypes race pro 2.5 system with xpipe on my 65 ..it fits absolutely great...quality pieces for sure....did it all in my driveway - no problems ..... my only complaint (because I am evidently getting old) is the race pros resonance was unbearable to me and anyone riding in my car .....they sound great outside but inside resonance was LOUD in the 65...especially cruising at 2k .....I have since switched to cheapie 2.5" Summit Turbos's (less than $25 a piece) and absolutely love them at cruise speeds now ......they sound comparable at idle to the race pros but less basey BUT "poppier" at idle -its very hard to describe sound I know ...but with these summit turbos now its alot quieter at 2k cruising.... ...p.s. my 2.5 race pros with less than 600 miles on them are for sale for $75 plus shipping if anybody is interested. Here is a link below.
I ran 3" tail pipes from TA Performance.
They fit perfect and have a slash cut tip.
The ones from torque Tech and poston are the same but do not have the slash cut tip. depends on the look you want.. I like the slash cut...
I got my X-Pipe from Jegs..
Easy to install but you do need to measure some.
I placed the X right behind the cross member.
Measured the distance fron the X to the tail pipes and headers and went to the muffler shop and had them make pieces to fit between then weld everything together.
    I run Flowmaster Super 40's.
    They sound awesome.
Quiet when your not on it but pretty loud when you get on it.
    Hope this helps...

I have the American Thunder 2.5 inch mandrel bent flowmaster setup with "H" pipe on my 67 Skylark, and I love it. The downside is that it's a universal kit for 64-72 A-bodies, so it does require cutting and fitting. I like the rumble and resonance, so the flowmasters were definitely my cup o' tea.
