any idea where to find good repros of the plastic chrome for the seat side covers and seat backs ? I got some from Postons and it is thin JUNK!!!!! they used to sell the right size/weight trim but do not anymore---same problem with OPGI-,Parts Place-and YO--all selling pre-cut thin junk from a repop company called TWF---any idea where I can get a better quality product?

to my knowledge we are still left with this made in Taiwan, "chrome" beading junk. If you can live with the slight shrinkage in length that occurs on the originals they tend to clean up pretty well if you can find them. Use Meguiars Plastic Cleaner to wipe down the clear plastic tube covering and they seem to come out pretty nice. A lot of these I have seen in yards appear to be bad but only need a little bit of cleaning of this clear plastic outer layer. IMO--this stuff was nowhere near as bright or "chromy" as this replacement beading...more of a dull aluminum look.

The only challenge is finding decent cores. I am using cleaned up originals on my car instead of that mis-sized, ill fitting stuff. I can live with the slight gaps in length from shrinkage.

Now you know why the bench seat equipped people have that smirk on their faces every time they see a bucket seat car.

Buicklawyer put it on an A body Olds seat and gave it a two thumbs up. Make sure you clean both sides of the area where the adhesive will make contact so you get good contact. Otherwise the dust and dirt will interfere.

See my "budget interior resto" thread in this forum, chrome seat trim starts at post #10. Does not pass for original, but way better than the too skinny repro stuff

Another email for just one kit:

Are you talking about the Plastic chrome bucket seat trim? If you are the number is (503) 357-8742. Or you can send a Money Order with a note for $26.00 and I will be glad to send you out a kit.

    Ernie

So call or email Ernie. He promptly sent the wide mouth chrome kit.

Jim---if you have (get) your hands on this stuff any way you could post a pic of it? Also--your opinion on how bright it is compared to the original as well as compared to the skinny beading that everyone has been relegated to? THanks very much--Patton

BTW...with this wider trim, it needs to be very pliable to install :TU: around curves, or it will crimp...so....put it in the oven on WARM only, and get it to about 130 degrees f...do this piece by piece, so you need to pre cut each piece a little bit long before heating....this will allow a smooth, crimp free install...it is beautiful, but not correct......what si wrong with Year One, though, dont they have enough clout to control their suppliers?

Marc--back to the question I asked Jim---is this "Ernie" stuff real shiny or chromelike on the outside or is it more like the original?
