did not know i had them backwards.. thats why i love this place, always get those little tips!! i will swap them over. To give a update i am putting the motor back together for the last time tonight to hopefully to take her out for a shakedown. I finished wrapping the exhaust and replaced all the 3"clamps for "t" clamps. i am going to install dual fans soon. The "todue"list is getting shorter. i installed the new 1/2 pickup and swapped intakes to find that i couldent use the one i just had powdercoated. not enough vacuum ports and didnt have the spot for the coil in the same place. $50 plus shipping if anyone want a aluminum powdercoated intake $125 i pd just to powdercoat it.
For the brake setup it is all stock 97-04 c5 corvette calipers, brackets, pads, rotors. i run b body spindles and drilled them to except a c5 caliper bracket. i installed kore3 aluminum hubs so the c5 rotors will work. The brake booster was new and out of a 72 "a" body, master is a manual i think 75 vette, 1inch bore. i use a wilwood adjustable proporting valve mounted under the master to control the amount of pressure, 60%-40%.not a hard swap but i ran into some problems because i used a 9" rearend. I ended up using gm ends on the 9" and than had to machine the caliper bracket to bring the caliper center over the rotor. i think i spent around $1000 for everthing, but i did my own machining and labor.

The "doc dual plane" mod is where you cut out the horizontal dividers out of the intake, leaving the vertical divider in, thus turning the intake from a 4 hole unit to a dual plane unit. Sweet mod, very easy to do too.

Any pics of the intake? I might be interested...

Just thought I would mention this. Somebody mentioned it to me when I was building my car, and it saved me a lot of grief.

Are you planning on going to the dragstrip with this car? They will make you move your fuel pressure regulator since it is mounted on the firewall.

Check the NHRA rulebook. I assume that since all of the fuel runs through the regulator, they don't want it anywhere near the driver's compartment. It makes sense to me.

didnt know that, does it have to be mounted on the engine? i have it mounted on the heater box now but can make a braket to mount it off the valve cover...

doc, i already switched over the valve covers!!

It can be mounted to the frame, or the fender, or the engine, just can't be on the firewall.

i want to see what it will run so i will bring it to the track, but the closest track is epic,nh or new jersey. so i wount be making two many but i can move it to the fender no problem. i have to upload some current pictures. i have the motor painted up nice, turbo blanket install, exhaust wrapped, i have to finish up on the gauges and a little wireing and she is ready. Just havnt had much time. i also found a hurt rocker arm, so i am going to order up a set or rockers and some chromoly pushrods. wish i didnt have so much on my plate, new house ,new enagement to the lady, new dog and another hot rod, but thank god i am so ADHD that @11:30 at night i am going to the garage to get some stuff done so i can have some fun!!:3gears:

Your hood is almost all stripped down. Hood is in gd shape minus 7 layers of paint.. you can tell it got painted in to 70's because it has a orange paint with heavy silver metalic. metal work is almost done.
The lark is ready to be started up minus the fact the i have a hurt rocker arm. The tip isnt thier. I dont have the grand for tt roller rockers due to another hot rod and a new home. so i had to settle for stock 1.6. they say they will be in on monday so i will get to work to rebuild the rockers.. any tips?? i have to upload new pictures, car looks mean but could come up one inch in the front. real... low all around. so i will set the ride height i want before i take her out on a shakedown around the block.
one question is how much oil should i put in?? extra quart for the turbo in the back?? maybe two?? i have a oil pressure gauge for the engine and the turbo so atleast i will be safe but dont know where i should start. 7.5qts total??

I'd suggest putting the 5 qts in, then pre-lubing the whole setup by spinning the oil pump with a drill until the oil fills all the lines and passages. Then add oil to the 'full' mark.
You might want to disconnect your turbo oil return line and watch for oil during the pre-lube step.
    Good Luck!:TU:

The hood is getting thier, i still have to mock up the cowl for it.. might try something differnt, but not sure yet. i think it is going to be around 7 qts. after some filling and priming i am around 7, but still havent ran it yet. hopefully tues!! I met this one not so nice guy that i would love to run my gs against his 65 chevelle with a 468 big block. He talked, and talked and talked, on how fast the car was. i told him i had a 66 lark with a 401. He couldent understand why i would build a buick.. and than turbo one.. I told him every kid has built a .030 over 454 but how many has even seen a nailhead!! he made some excuse and that made a statement on how his car went 10.80's, so i ask what his 60 footer was... he looked at me like i had three eyes..:Dou: well i think i am going to bring it to the track atleast once or twice and i may have my first race already lined up...

actually it wasnt painted that orange color about 8-10 years ago. my whole car is that color with yellow flames not by my choice. when i bought it it was that color with a fake convertable top over the hardtop. the guy i bought it off had bought it off a (not being racists) black fellow that fixed it like that and wrecked it bending the grill and fender. it will be all white when done. car was originally a gold color with a white top.

got the rockers in, but ofcorse 8 are wrong, 8 of the rockers are completely straight and made out of blk cast steel. the other 8 are aluminum. what are the straight ones out of? early 322?? i am waiting to hear back from the guy so hopefully i can have this worked out by the weekend so i can have it running.
