It would be cheeper to have mark make a custom long runner intake than to buy a vintage 413 setup and modify it.

    chryco63 14's or bust!

Those long rams definitely do increase the torque almost exponentially, but I'm also quite certain that they suppress the max RPMs of an engine to a torquey minimum. Long ram 413's made truckloads of torque, but they didn't wind out.

Nevertheless, they look way cool, and I think it'd be neat to see Mark make a pair and have someone test them out!

Yeah thats true but with the stock rods we ar limited to about 600 hp under 6000 rpm anyway! I'm not saying this is the best option for us though but an option forsure.

Yeah and even better with twin turbos in front to feed the LONG RUNNER TORQUE MOSTER BUICK 350!

Wait a minute... you're on to something there, Sean. A twin turbo, long-ram, dual quad 350. Sounds almost comparable to a Peterbilt, in terms of torque. :3gears:

Don't give me any ideas! I just bought a new car for the twin turbo project and its a 77 Skyhawk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice looking intake . That just might work very nicely. Just might have the perfect test mule comming into the shop to test it on. Jim Burek

Oh Jim just let me know because it will be at your shop whenever your ready!

We already have some quarter mile testing planned for the coming weeks so a dyno follow up would be perfect.

    Justa350 I'm BACK!

It is almost finished. There has been a significant design revision that required some major reconstruction. Also, my milling machine has been down for about 2 weeks because of electrical troubles, and my bandsaw snapped the last blade I had.

The electrical part for the mill arrived today and I will be getting my bandsaw blade tomorrow so I should be able to get the intake done asap.

Thanks for the interest and patience, it will be worth it!

cant wait for the finish product and the price range...i heard single plane intakes dont work well in cold weather, dur to no heat riser?
so i guess fuel injection would remedy this right?

    Justa350 I'm BACK!

The exhaust passages in my heads are blocked off, and I can take it out in pretty cold weather with no trouble, other than having no heater in the car! It takes a few stumbles and pumps of the gas to get it to smooth out when first started, then I set my choke cable to just bump the idle speed up a tad when cold. After a couple of blocks of driving I can disable the choke and it's smooth sailing!

You can bet I'll be going to this intake soon. It's the first high performance thing I think I've ever designed that didn't go on my car first!

    :)

Hey, whatever became of this? I'm interested. Although I honestly don't have the $ to spend right now.
Honestly, I'm interested in all the things you make, :TU: I'm just not enough of a gearhead to make it all work.

That was the first intake Mark built for me, it went for dyno testing and showed substantial gains over a TA intake on a 550+ hp Buick 350 NA. The first intake ended up with another member who is using it on his turbo Buick 350. Mark made another like my first one and Cason has that, he has had gains with his as well. There is one more of those intakes out there waiting to be used by Casper1 who was running 12s NA with his 350 before the singleplane intake.

Mark eventually ended up building his own alum X factor which is even better than the previous and that is what he is building for me. Mine will be like his but with nitrous bungs and multiport fuel injection bungs for my Turbo 350 Skylark.

My intake is nothing short of awesome. I requested to Mark that he add provisions for the A/C bracket and heater hose and it fit extremely well. :TU:

Anyone have track results yet? I've never pulled into the staging beams and seen a dyno in the other lane, so some track data would be useful. Dynos are for tuning, the track shows how much power is really there.

It is well known that the TA intake and Poston intake have poor fuel distribution compared to the stock intake so we needed a better option. I had Mark build my intake, I payed $550 for dyno testing and it performed great! Of course track data is coming but we finally have an intake that will help use our ported heads in the higher rpm ranges that the ta, stock or poston intakes can not do.

At what power level does the distribution issue rear its head? Just curious as reading my plugs tells a different story in my low power combo. I'm going to a BBB after this season is over, so I'm looking for any easy power I can get out of my stock 350 longblock until then. From what I've seen/read of this intake it doesn't look like it will help much for what I have done.

For your combo, the singleplane intake would not be a bang for the buck add on but a larger cam would help for sure even with the un-ported heads.

I have never had any luck with the TA intake as far as performance it lost torque down low vs a stock intake and I did find un-even fuel distribution at the plugs when running a large cam.

There is a reason Bill mah used a stock intake on his 1000+ hp Buick 350, the stock intake was the best they had available
