IMHO of course . Well since my car has no brakes at the moment and need some encouragement I want to see every single pic you guys can find of these rivieras. Weather you like the ones you find or not just post em up! Too much attention goes to the 63-65's which are awesome cars but I personally think theh 66-67's looks the best with their long flowing elegant body lines. So with that said. I'll start. Here's mine. Unfortunately somebody hit it in the garage and bent the hood and bumper pretty good. Sons of #$%^&*( LOVE this one! And a video or two http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPbwhCNAiMk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dA3iQBHJ-As&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmBGzAiesZE
I just got off the phone with someone who has a 66 hood, and have a bead on someone with a hood for a 67. Where are you located? I can share info to help get you fixed up with one or the other if you need the parts and are close. By the way, here is mine...
Actually the hood really isn't that bad at all. The point of the hood in the front (where the spear begins) is just pushed back a little and one side is raised up just a bit. Thanks for offering your help though!
I'm always surprised how nice these cars can look with the two-tone paint schemes. Not many body styles can get away with it. Devon
Nice '66, '67 pics !! All the 2nd generation Rivieras are winners (imho) - and this one 4 sure !! :beer :TU: I have also included a two tone sunset version, from a local cruise nite.
Subscribed to this thread. :TU: Will be posting pics of mine in the morning. Do not have access to my photos at the moment. What is wrong with your current hood? It looks to be in better shape than mine. Also, can you give me some info over your air bag suspension? Did you have to cut the spring pockets or any part of the frame to install them? And if not, where did you get the kit? I have been searching everywhere for a kit that does not require me to chop up the spring pockets.
Here's a group that I started on Flickr that is specifically for pictures of '66-'67 Riviera's. http://www.flickr.com/groups/buickriviera/pool/ Here's some pictures of mine. I don't have anything recent, so just picture it with less rust. All pictures posted below are by me. Please do not use, edit, copy, or redistribute without my permission. It is bagged, but I didn't do it. I believe the pockets are cut, and the bags are getting old/need to be replaced soon. I plan on doing an upgrade job to it soon when I get it painted, so hopefully budget doesn't get too close or it will be postponed again until next year.
I bet a decent buffer would do some justice to that paint. You may be able to get away with a heavy turtle wax job.
Are those the AR Salt Flats on it? I have been torn between those and Halibrand replica's for mine. With the Salt Flat's, I was going to paint the insets of the rim black to give it more of a Buick Rally wheel look.
Looking at the pics above, did the underside of the hoods come painted the same color as the body? If the car was white, would the underside of the hood be white also?
I really want the front, side part, of the bumper with no light in it. It looks soooo much better IMO. I need to get my bumper fixed too. Have any of you guys had your headlights go up and down, up and down, up and down when you turn your lights on? I'm assuming it's a relay.
No they didn't. We did this one body color underneath and also the bottom of the hood. PPG clear coated and gloss PPG on the core support and inner fenders. It demands attention at shows when you open the hood.
As for the side marker lights, does anybody know if this was an option or what? Mine doesn't have it, and I don't want it, but I do so others with this light. As for your headlight issue, check the relay near the drivers side hood hinge. I had a similar problem like that with mine. I could tap on the relay and they would go up and down. It wasn't until later on that I discovered the wire going to the relay had a bad connection due to surface rust at the wire connecter. Truthfully, I never paid much attention or even noticed what color the underside of the hood should be on these cars, but when I saw the pics of yours, my eyes were pulled right in. It's a really good looking car.
