There is a local used car dealer that has a green Challenger with every stripe and add in possible. I guess they are selling it but u see it driving around. The fun part is the Demon emblems on the fenders. The dopes put them on the wrong sides. They are both looking to the rear. :D

Give it another year or so and you're going to find used low mileage Hellcat Redeyes with 797 hp, warranty and in a good choice of colors for about the same or lower than the cost for a nicely restored classic. Its an unfortuate reality that this dramatically affects the downward trend of classics. For example...a very good friend of mine just sold his immaculate beautiful 1966 Dodge Charger 426 hemi car with auto for $46.5k. It was a high quality #2 car...10 years ago a car like this went for $75-80k...now he was happy to get 46k...he sees the prices dropping dramatically. We all see it...just a matter of accepting the reality of the market. I am still searching for my GS...and know what I finally purchase is not an investnent ...just a nice car to enjoy..as prices will continue to drop.

Muscle cars are dropping but 80's cars are picking up. Square body Chevy trucks, fox body mustangs, and bandit trans am are all holding on or going up.

This may be true, but when I get the Buicks out (especially the noisy green b*st*rd) I get eye-raped harder than any of the modern dealer lot cars I've ever seen. I hate going to gas stations due to the attention. New muscle is impressive, but not overly unique. So there's obviously still some appeal there. That doesn't necessarily equate to value though, but in 5-7 years these will all just be used cars much as our old Buicks were in the mid-late 70's.

All that said, IMO the new challengers are bad mofos, and if I was in the market for modern muscle, the hell kitty would be it. No, not the most unique thing, but the blend of power/comfort/reliability/warranty is pretty tough to beat. Plus it'd at the very least be different from the 11 mustangs on my street, it's an infestation. We do have a fella down the road with a Demon. Think the neighbors 5.0 shivers and squirts a little oil in the driveway when that thing goes by.....

You can have a fully restored Stage 1 AND a modern muscle car.

4EC96900-2918-4BD2-89BE-B4DA7F10278E.jpeg I agree you can have both, the best of both worlds. Shawn, I agree with you too on the attention the vintage cars get. You can really see it when you drive one on the Power Tour. The late model vettes and stuff are mainly ignored by the spectators while the vintage cars draw much attention. But, on our long trip out west the Scat Pack was very comfortable and got over 25 mpg.

Yes,they definitely must meet the need for speed and are wicked fast so props for that but I am still firmly planted in the old muscle(regardless of brand) whether “slower” by today’s standards or not

Most of us have a late model car of some type in the driveway. We're certainly not driving our Stage 1s back and forth to work everyday right? How much is the average new car these days? 50k,?

My scat pack was 48k. If you had a choice between a loaded new Ford escape or a 485 horse hemi Challenger, what would you pick?

The rawness of the old muscle is intoxicating. Having grown up around it, really want to get back into it. Eventually( I think within a year) the market will track back enough for me to get the car I want at the price I need to be at. I am very patient...and if it doesn't happen for me, thats ok...I have had lots of great, fun cars over the years...no regrets!!

Agreed. That’s why we drove a 65 Gran Sport on the Power Tour. Even more different we drove a 57 Dodge pickup on 2 Power Tour Long Hauls.

Threw the Badges on, and got to working on the 70 skylark. I am in the process of relocating the battery to the trunk! Still drive it as much as I can to work and around the city. Nothing beats an ok car, I definitely still enjoy the Buick and the goal is to take down HWY 1. I've made it as reliable as possible and added EFI to the 350. Does definitely turn heads wherever I take it.

68Riv, when you change the oil in that make sure you know there is an oil cooler in car that needs draining. Plenty of guys on line say they don’t bother? I get at least 12 ounces out of that thing. The owners manual says to drain it. Changing oil if you don’t know requires removing a square pan with 4 screws to access the main plug and filter which is right next to it. That’s easy. The oil cooler requires a large front plastic sheet to come off. Several plastic pop ins as well as a few screws for that. Plug for cooler is at far front of passenger side. Almost under bumper. Plug Is at end of aluminum tube. Hold the tube at the square plug with a big adjustable wrench to loosen drain as tube is not attached tightly. Don’t trust the dealer to drain the tube either as many guys have said dealer didn’t do it or even know about it? There are plenty of videos on line how to do it. With filters you can buy the Mopar MO899 filters at Walmart for 6 bucks. Some guys insist on the expensive SRT filter. I don’t think it’s worth the money. As for oil amount there is plenty of discussion. 15-16 used 6 quarts. In 2017 they went to 7 quarts and nothing changed but the dipstick. Many guys with 15-16 including me use 7 quarts. I bought the newer stick and the 7 quart stick is the only one available if that tells you anything. They will try and sell you the dip stick tube as well. I bought it and it’s no different. It’s not easy to change the tube anyway. If you run 7 you don’t even need to change the stick. Just note where full is on whatever you use. With the oil the Pennzoil Platinum SRT 0w/40 oil is the only one that meets the spec. You should be able to find it at dealer for around $8. That’s the cheapest I have found. No stores are selling it at all. You may find it on line but price is a toss up. A ton of info I know but important stuff.
