My buddy Big Guy has died.

I loved this cat. And I will miss him deeply. He was a great friend. My buddy Big Guy may you rest in peace. This picture is about 8 years old. He lived to be circa 12 to 14 years of age.

    Sorry to hear that Patrick.

Any plans on getting a friend from the humane society in the near future?

    Cody,
Thanks for the reply. I do not have any immediate plans. The Big Guy came off the streets and if a get another it will be similar circumstances. He actually died on 8/9 and I am still feeling his loss.

    Our pets

Sorry to hear about Big Guy , Patrick it's a sad day when a pet passes . They are family afterall . Our oldest dog Cher was euthanized in January of this year . She was a Border Collie crossed with a horse and a clown . She was a great dog !!! She only made it 4 years but they were great .
We rescued Burt from family . We found him tied to to a door knob on a 3' leash no food water and unable to lie down otherwise he would have choked .
The worst part , the owner had put a body harness on him so tight that it had grown into the flesh under his front legs :af:
We took him to the vet and got him checked out .
At 6 mo. old he weighed 69 lbs. , according to the vet he should have weighed 90-100 . In March we had him nuetered he weighed 105 . He is now 140-150 . His chin clears the dining room table by 3" which he loves !! He is a Fantastic Companion and Guard Dog .
This pic shows where the harness grew into the skin . He still has scars and does not play well on a leash .
Patrick , I hope that when it's time you and your family will be able to give another animal your love and a second chance it a better life .

    desertrat,

Thank you for your sentiment. I will never understand how people can treat animals in a indecent manner. They are a responsibility and anyone who treats them improperly shows their true colors. Burt has a good home and I am happy for him and your family. I wise Tenton Sioux medicine man named Brave Buffalo had this to say concerning possessions.

I have noticed in my life that all men have a liking for some special animal, tree, plant, or spot of earth. If men would pay more attention to these preferences and seek what is best to do in order to make themselves worthy of that toward which they are so attracted, they might have dreams which would purify their lives. Let a man decide upon his favorite animal and make a study of it, learning its innocent ways. Let him learn to understand its sounds and motions. The animals want to communicate with man, but Wakantanka (God) does not intend they do so directly-man must do the greater part in securing an understanding.

I got this cat. The wife hates it though, she says it gives her the creeps. I don't know what the problem is....

    Great Save Desert Rat

I have three dogs and all are from the Humane Society. The first (Mocha) is a great Chocolate Lab that was a in a litter of puppies that somebody gave up. (Better to do that than leave them in a bag that some people do)
The second is a pit/lab cross found wondering the city streets in Minnesota at 8 weeks in March.
The third is the newest Tyson and his picture is in this thread. He was given up by his family.

There are 2 things that will never happen. One give up my dog and second buy a dog from a store. There are to many needing good homes. I believe they know you saved them and make the best pets in the world.

They have it pretty good now!!!!!!!!!

My pair of Shiba Inu's. Amber on the left(5 yrs), Casey on the right (1 1/2 yrs).

I don't have a pic yet of Casey's favorite new playmate - my girlfriend's 95 lb. Black Lab/Newfoundland cross. They like to "face wrestle". Amber runs around the outside of 'em barking like she's the referee. Total riot to watch.

Yea, they're fat but the angle makes them look bigger/it's only a queen size bed. The white one is probably around 20lbs, orange is around 16lbs, black one (female) has a gut and is probably around 15lbs.
