1/4 extensions thanks phil, i don't know what i was thinking. 73's are completely differant. but i thought 74 thru 76 were the same?
74's would probably fit too but they are supposed to be different. I think they are a bit more rounded at the top. Replica Plastics of Dothan sells reproductions of these and if I remember well, they list two different models, one for the 74 and another one for the 74-76. I never bought the reproductions but I think that someone on this board already bought some and they were not easy to fit.
I bought Dothan's bumper fillers for both of my 76 LeSabres. They were definitely NOT easy to fit. Being fiberglass, which is not flexible, meant that I had to get their fit to be perfect before being able to tighten any of the fasteners. This included several adjustments made by cutting and redoing the fiberglass. Each of the two sets needed to be modified in different ways and by the time I was finished I realized that these pieces were nothing more than something to start with- sort of like aftermarket weatherstripping. Now it looks ok, but I've realized that first time the bumper shocks get used, these things will be destroyed, whereas the OEM fillers will flex as the bumper moves in.
After over a year of searching on i-net and make quite a few phonecalls for some front fillers for my 75 Riviera I decided to order those reproductions. Expensive (incl shipping to Europe $260.00 orso) but better than no fillers at all. Had to cut and drill new holes in in it before they fitted...... now one year later I finally found an original set and will definately replace the repros. BTW: probably I will buy another 1975 Riviera as parts car next weekend (or maybe even as a project ou: ) ........... with the fillers (F+R!!) still on it in very good condition. See pics My 2 cents: keep on searching for the originals
Rob, Are you able to find a 75-76 Buick KPH graduated speedometer? I'd really like to have one for my 75 Electra (with fuel usage gauge).
Here are the hand made fillers that were on my winter beater when I got it... I liked the idea of aluminium fillers (inexpensive!) so did some better ones later and painted them.
Phil, if that parts car has KPH speedometer it is yours!! But I doubt it. US-cars from that era with a KPH speedometer were or imported Canadian cars or Buicks assembled in Austria (end 6-ties early 7-ties). Just for the record: back in 1975 there were only 5 Riviera's imported here in The Netherlands: 2x GS: one of them I owned 20 years ago (Honey Gold and is now awaiting a resto) and the one I own right now (original Almond Mist) 1x S/R, a gray 76 model, but official imported in 1975 and 2 Riviera's one of them is now painted in (black/gray) 2-tone and one in Honey Gold; the last one probably will be used as a parts car In other words: till last summer all 5 were still driving around here (almost 30 years...... When Better Cars Are Built, Buick Will Build Them) Will get back to you by the end of this month, Phil ....... that's when I get a closer look at the parts car.
Thanks Rob, US built cars that had KPH speedos were export models. There were 802 1975 Electra Limiteds 4 dr. that got the KPH speedo in 1975. To them, you could add 2 dr models, base 225 4dr models, Le Sabres, Estate Wagons, Rivieras and all 1976 full size Buick models that were exported (exept in Canada) Here we still used MPH speedos before 1978.
Here is a picture of my homemade bumper fillers on the Le Sabre... They are made of aluminium and fiberglass. Total cost with paint 15$! They do not have the exact shape of the originals but they look a bit better than the previous set!
Clock Hi Beetlebuick, It does have a clock,i'll try to get it out this Friday or Saturday. Hopefully Friday & Saturday i can finished stripping it down & then haul the carcass off for some scrap cash. I'll let you know. Jeff
Jeff, does it have a rear window defogger (blower motor)? I'm looking for looking for the switch and wiring. BTW: where is that switch mounted/situated? Do Buicks with this option have another dash bezel than without this option. Any pics? Originally my 73 Riviera does not have this option, but I'm intending to install one. Thanks
This is a picture of my 74 Le Sabre's defogger switch, I think that the woodgrain trim is a bit different on 73's but it is similar. This car has no a/c so there is a fake a/c outlet in the trim. I have the same trim for 1974 cars with a/c, it has a hole for the a/c outlet. Cars with the electric defroster have a similar looking switch but they also have a green light beside it.
Thanks for the very quick reply, Phil. So I will need another bezel Have to edit some of my ads on the i-net  Can I use your pic in emails to sellers of those parts?
