Did Buick every release power & torque figures for the "1972" Stage 2 455 parts package (incl Stage 2 heads, cam, pistons, rods + Kustom headers)?
Just for the record,I bought my set of iron stage 2 heads because they were the only game in town at the time.TA didn’t even have the blueprints yet.
Iv'e only heard of estimates of 540 hp? coming I think from Buick but in articles Mr Manner mentions 100 hp over the stock which doesn't make sense. The heads alone were said to add 50 hp. Seems that alot who write a article seem to put down figures that aren't set in stone..
Your running full exhaust? Are you running a Stage 2 cam from the day or a close grind? They say the cam used would lose power with a full exhaust, which I don't understand how a 3 inch exhaust would even rob much power? but I mentioned this before and was told cams today are a different breed.
I’m running a Scott Brown custom cam hydraulic, 540 Intake, 244 duration 560 exhaust, 264 duration on a 113 Lop separation. Went with hydraulic so we didn’t beat the heads up a running the 3 inch exhaust right out the back.
Buick recommended open exhaust for the stage two Off-road headers only.as we know they never made an exhaust manifold for the street the stage 1 had that covered.
That old magazine article about the So Cal dragstrip race (last of the night) between the Buick Engineer's white (developmental) GSX Stage 2 vs the Pontiac Engineer's GTO R/A "V" is always fun to read ... "The Buick by two!" I suppose that engine would've had early design Stage 2 heads.
