Hey there Eric, I asked Mike awhile ago about this subject, and he told me that the 70 was the only year with that offset, and that the 71 and 72 had the smaller offset.
What exactly are you talking about when you say the webbed rear end????

The WG wheels or wide shoulder wheels were available on the GS455 cars, which obviously included the GSX and Stage 1 cars. And only in 1970. There was a factory bulletin that stated they were not available on the GS350 cars. Of course never say never........have heard of several owners claiming their 350 cars had the 15's. I guess we could clarify the point by saying Buick didn't "intend" them to be available.
The 1971 15 x 7 wheels had a narrower shoulder and that year all the center hubs (14's and 15's) were changed to a different design in that the blacked out areas were more recessed around the lug nut area. Seeing the 70 and earlier centers next to the 71 and laters and its obvious.

That clears it up enough for me, thanks. :beer

    Guys,
The earliest "WG" wheels I have found were dated Feb 20 1970, the earlier ones did not have the application codes and were stamped "7.0" So some early GSX's probably came with the "7.0" wheels.
There were tons of mid-year 70 changes including shocks.

PS. I have a buildsheet for a 70 GS 350 with G60-15 tires on regular steel wheels with dog dishes, and it was a SCO car.

PSS. The shock article is finished now and will be in the next BPG newsletter.

Does the cowl tag look ok to you guys? When I compare it to the one from my old GSX it doesn't look the same to me. The numbers and letters don't line up the same and there are some other differences. I know they are faking cowl tags like crazy on Camaros and getting pretty darn good at it. I'm not saying this one is fake, I'm no expert, but maybe some of the GSX owners on this forum could compare their tags with this one and give us their opinion. I, for one, am interested in bidding on this car if it is the real deal.

Mine is slightly different. The "Q-Q" lines up directly under the 1st digit in the body number on mine and the one on ebay lines up under the second digit. Also the "dash mark" between the "Q and Q" is not centered on mine like the one on the car on ebay. Plus, I have a "dash mark" between the Q-Q and PNT and the ebay photo does not show that "dash mark".

This probably means nothing because it seems reasonable that since these were stamped by GM, maybe that is why they have slight differences. They have the protecto plate and the car looks very nice to me but if I were spending that kind of money for a car, I'd sure go see it in person!

The car on ebay has the phone number of the owner listed. You still have 5 days to bid. Maybe you can call get the VIN and get the Wayne Roberts documentation to feel good about bidding.

I didn't realize the cowl tags would vary so much. Not only does my cowl tag differ from the one on eBay, but by the description of yours it differs from yours also. Is there anyone here in Ohio close to the car that could take a look? When Wayne documented my car it took several months, I'm not sure he would be able to verify the eBay car within 5 days. eBay is a worrysome place to buy a car sight unseen. A few weeks ago we listed and sold a car and then a week later started receiving calls on it again. Someone had copied our ad, word for word, picture for picture. They even still had our phone number in the ad. Once we contacted eBay they pulled the ad, but you have to wonder how many other auctions like that are out there. Ohh, I wish it were a 4-speed. I'd be on the next plane to OH.
