AC/Delco makes the best oil filters-just ask Jim Haas what he thinks of Fram filters(or any of the other filters out there).

All my cars have AC/Delco oil filters on them.

Doesn't Wix make um for Valoline?

Anyway, I run the HD filtermag to catch any iron the filter misses.:bglasses:

    Joe,
I use the System1 reusable short filter. It has a washable stainless steel mesh filtering element, and it goes together with replaceable O rings. Less restrictive than any paper filter, only 1 psi drop across the filter.

  8. I like keeping my cars "all GM" but dang, the AC Delco's are getting hard to find, along with this brand of battery, air and fuel filters, and even spark plugs.

NAPA has the plugs, and occasionally the oil filters, but neither they nor Autozone nor Kraegen carry their air filters. Does anyone know where AC Delco products can be ordered - even in bulk - on line? Went to their website:

    ACDELCO

...and tried (and tried and tried) to get it to come up with anything relative to BBB's to no avail. Keeps popping up with a "no items listed for your vehicle" response, which of course we all know to be untrue.

Any suggestions for another on-line source?

I use AC as well or sometimes Fleetgaurd (use these at work on big trucks as well).

I pulled an AC oil filter off of an engine that I just bought and it would rattle when shaken. I cut it open and the spring was missing! So the oil was bypassing all the time! There has been a problem with conterfit parts esp. with AC Delco.

Our company with 125,000 trucks switched to Fram several years back and had lots of problems so they switched back to Fleetgaurd.

I use to have a Fram until I started shoing signs of low oil-pressure. Still use their Air Filters, though.

The reason I was using the Fram is because AC/Delco only lists a PF-24 for my Nailhead. That is shorter than the OE filter which they no longer make. The fram ph-11 is longer than the AC pf-24, (which is the same length as the shorter Fram ph-25).

I went out this morning and got a pf-24 AC/Delco oil filter, I don't think it will matter if it's a little shorter.......it's better than getting pieces of glue and cardboard in my oil galleries from a cheep Fram filter.:af:

You could also check out the K&N HP-2003... it's a little longer IIRC. If anything go to the parts store and pick one up, and then pick up the Fram. The K&N is a lot heavier.

Stop the madness and get a System 1 oil filter. The LAST filter you'll ever buy!!:Smarty: I have had it on my Skylark for over 10 years,It was the first thing I put on my '70 stage 1 car. I also put the rubber ring with magnets in it from JC Whitney around the filter, you know the old saying "an ounce of prevention"!!!!!:TU:

Forgive me... For I have sinned.

I printed the articles out at work, and just got done reading them. Interesting.

I was a staunch user of AC filters for years. Then it seemed a lot of retailers stopped carrying them.
I heard it had to do with AC demanding retailers either carry AC exclusively, or nothing!

So, then Fram filters were everywhere, a fellow stands at the oil filter display and says to himself.
"Fram is a major manufacturer with a long history in the business. Should be a good bet. It's not like I'm buying some cheap no name brand of filter."
Then the monkey is on your back.

So, for several years it was all Fram. Fram on the '96 LeSabre,Fram on my Ranger pick-up, and yes, Fram on the Riv.

Then, after reading this board for some time it became clear what everyone thought of Fram filters! :moonu:
With stories to back it up!
Now, I'm back to all AC, even for the Ford.
    And feel much better!

I'll bet that AC Delco has 2 or 3 different grades of filters.....the best of which can only be had at the dealer for million dollars a piece.:af:

(that was sarcasm, realisticly maybe about 8 or 9 bucks)
