Well he obviously didn't market it very well if all he attracted was tire kickers and low ballers!

But you can't fix stupid !

I agree with you half price is a slap in the face sometimes. I come in at 75 to 80% with way more success.

So my Wildcat is currently for sale, and of course, it's drawing out the "car guys". And I've heard the gamut already, and everyone wants to have it for nothing. I'm asking $22,000 for it, it's got a fresh body, interior and chrome, and mechanically it's still original, never been pulled apart or rebuilt. It has 134,000 miles and still starts and runs clean. So sure, it's not perfect by a long shot, but it's a good and fun driver. I've had guys try and offer me $6000 for it, waving a fist full of dollars and making all the right speeches. I've asked more than one person to leave my property before an unfortunate accident occurs. When I stand up to my full height, I'm 6'8" and about 300lbs, I'm old, but don't get me mad.
All of those idiots have always threatened "It's a one time offer, I might change my mind after I leave". And I told the last one, "I hope you do, because I'm just about to lose mine. I still like the car, I don't need to sell it, and I'm not selling the car anymore, at least not to you, so f*** off and get outta here. "
So no real solid offers yet, but then again, I'm in no rush to get rid of it, and it's currently not advertised anywhere yet, just a sign in the window.

    It is true;
The problem with stupid people is, they don’t know they are stupid.
It’s up to us to tell them so..

The funny thing is a SERIOUS and respectful buyer would show up with the amount the seller is asking then once an in depth inspection of the vehicle being sold was performed if there was any issues found the "negotiating" would begin. In most cases the buyer would start at a decent respectful offer as to not offend the seller and the two parties would work TOGETHER to reach an acceptable price for BOTH parties. Guys coming in with offers less than half the asking price or value of the vehicle should be ashamed of themselves. The only way you should offer below half the asking price is if you're trying to buy something from Biker Fox then its acceptable because he's already doubled the worth of the item anyways lol.

Sad part is he would have lost five times as much dough and 1,500 hours labor if he tried to do a full restoration.* I've been that stupid.

*Loses could be substainally more significant. Assumes a matching numbers big block car without hidden issues, the owner has an above ordinary skill set, an uninterrupted flow of disposable income, a high degree of motivation, a handy and dependable friend or relative will help every other weekend for the next five years at only the cost of a few beers or small allowance, an understanding wife, a build sheet will be found, no unusable parts or services will be purchased, no farmed out work goes awry, a fully equipped shop is at the ready, nothing is lost or damaged in shipping, nothing is misplaced, inadvertently scraped or pitched. Assumes no accidents, illness, injury, death, earthquakes, civil unrest, hurricanes, avalanches, mud slides, flooding, world war up to and including nuclear holocaust, tornadoes, rodent damage, fire, economic collapse, hurricanes, vandalism, chemical mishap, or theft will take place during the ownership. Expect supplies such as paint prices to double during restoration. Penalties may exist for VIN, title, or tax issues. Excellent market timing is highly recommended. Auction fees far in excess of reason to be anticipated at time of sale. Results may vary. Does not include any attempt to return a car to number 1 concours trailer queen status.

STAGE III Lost Experimental 455-4 Bolt Main Block.

I wonder if he’d take 50 bucks for that front bumper?:D:D:p

Congrats! He just got 0% of zero and lost his initial investment.
On the upside it’s one less Mopar to waste gas money blowing off the road

So, how much did he pay to increase the value of every 1970 Dodge Charger out there?

Friend of mine has that attitude. He wants top dollar for whatever he is selling, if he doesn't get it, scrap it. He was at a swap meet one time. Had a bunch of early 20's glass tail light lens that they took off all the old wrecks on grandpas farm.
Guy came and offered to buy just one. He said no, it's the whole box or nothing.
Guy came back later, offered to buy just one.
Friend took the one out of box, looked at it and smashed it on the ground.
Then told the guy they were not for sale and to leave before he smashed the whole box.
I don't understand how this was a win for him at all.

I am a firm believer in the BFY theory. BFY stands for Bigger Fool Then You. If you hang on to something long enough there is someone out there who will pay more for it then you did. I have the right to offer you any price that I like for something that you have for sale; you have the right to either accept my offer or not. I offered you a price that I was willing to pay. That doesn't make either of us a jerk.

The price on 70 chargers just went up too! They just got rarer! Lmao! I stopped doing swap meets for the same reason! I just threw out a pickup truck of parts myself! I had some fun with people at the swap meet one year I took a large hammer and wrote price adjuster on the handle the funny thing is not everyone got it! I took a 70 hood lid piece and broke it over my knee and threw it at the guys feet! The look on the guys face was priceless!
