Ha! Chrome 710 cap! Makes me chuckle every time I hear someone call it that!

Very nice work there on everything. Well done!

Am I less of a car guy than I thought? I have no clue about the "chrome 710 cap"
    Ok Bill, fill me in

    Looking good!

A blonde gal couldn't figure out where to ad oil. Her boyfriend said just lift the oil cap and pour it in. He had to show her and she read it as 710... thats OIL inverted. Its a blonde joke! Bill

About like the guy that had the blonde gal checking his turn signal lights. He turned the left one on and asked if it was working and she replied "yes, no, yes, no"

So theres just over a month to go, then boating happens. Will we make it? Poured 5 quarts of 10-30 oil in on top of 15 oz. of zddp rich additive. Spun the botch and it made 60 lbs of oil pressure right now. Drill was on slow for torque at probably around 200 rpm. Countem'! After sitting an hour, the stick showed +1/2 quart... Right where I wanna be.

Put the cleaned up HEI in, replaced the frame to pump fuel hose, made up the power steering hoses, fastened down valve covers, bolted carb down, made up a PCV line, made up a vacuum for the brakes' line; Just the usual.

Tomorrow's job is gonna include some well deserved herbal relaxation, and put a ton of tools away, AND sweep up about 50 butts off the floor LOL... ws

Finished up with the trans today; oil, linkage, rugs, ring and boot, PLUS the speedo cable. Front seat and rugs are back in. probably a few dozen other smalls whilst I was in there. Cleaned shop and recreated herbally today playing make believe behind the wheel...

Can anyone positively ID these F&R mats? Gramma mustve gotten them with the car when new. Is this a vintage skylark artifact?? ws

    Odey, Odey, Oh!!!

Got the rag joint situation figured out, and for grins, pulled the master cylinder off the booster. The pedal was hard as a rock. The push rod from the pedal was a long one and was bottoming out the piston. Fixed. Got the wiper motor and washers hooked up and actually found the cowl screen and all the screws in the trunk. BAMM! Done.

Jumping all over the place. Tomorrow is cooling fan stuff, some core support stuff, T-stat, and maybe start on the drive shaft job. Then into rear brakes/piping, shocks and finally some tires. The slow turtle wins the race... ws

Looks good Bill! Kind of surprised to see those foam cowl seals there, those are usually gone. It's nice to have a mostly unmolested car, huh?

Frank, if you were a Native American (!) we'd be calling you "Eyes of 10 Eagles". Yeah, I was shocked to see them too, and not been used mouse food! I now have a little restored faith in mankind. Gonna start playing with clutch fan today and maybe dig out the core support stuff. Thats all been blasted and epoxy primered anyway.
Ive come to a conclusion tho... I didnt take this guy apart, so I hafta out-think Johnny and his tool box, follow the book, use the right bolts etc, fit back together, and then each piece needs to be taken apart, cleaned, oiled, and painted before going back on. Its the sword of Damocles' hanging over my head! ws

Had to modify a 20" fan yesterday to fit the 18" shroud. I ended up with 17". A little fine tuning today and its a done deal.

Started playing with wires. I need to make up some starter cables before the core support goes in. This stuff is sooo much more accessible without all that iron in the way. Need to run a non resistor wire to the HEI off the ignition switch. The book shows a 10 ohm wire from there forward. Probably gonna get some horizontal time working on rear brake main line, junction T above the axle and the two small wheel cylinder lines. While Im in there gonna measure for a driveshaft.

The rear U joint is a stock 8.2 for 1964, and the front needs to get swapped to another stock joint thats gonna fit a 400 Turbo yoke on the T-10. Anyone care to guess on a common parts number for the Joint(s)? ws

On The HEI wiring , just use the original coil wire as the trigger wire for a 30amp relay. HEI needs a solid 12volt an the only real way to guarantee that is with a dedicated circuit

So the resistor wire is from the firewall forward? If so, I can pluck the resistor wire out of the plug and re-run a 14 ga. wire to the HEI? The pink wire (IGN) on the switch looks like a regular wire, and the OEM coil wire is white; supposed to be a WOGCT (white with orange and green crossed tracer) as per the schematic, but no evidence of that. The white wire is also spliced (non OEM?) into the yellow hot wire from the solenoid. I say non OEM since there was two connections that looked like some vintage duct tape; black, and well done and crimped and soldered. The other is the big red wire to the solenoid (a pair) that has a joint going to the alternator. Probably gonna do a power up test on some circuits today. ws

Thanks Frank... It was that or the stock fixed 4 blade job off the V6. Still gonna hafta use the V6 radiator for a test run. Budget is usurped LOL... ws
