Just living on a pension with a close knit checkbook. Even the wife is good with most stuff, but I just cant afford new parts all the time. What I need is the lower core supports (L&R) that go under the battery and also the drivers side to patch weld into what Ive got (or, whats missing). Even if you've got a crumpled up old fender that's slated for the crusher and the pans are solid, Ill take it and straighten it out. This is for a 1972, but Ill make whatever happens along fit. Make a few bucks off some junk! Bill in TR...

Thanks Mark! Did speak with Mike and sent him these pics and his parts were 90/side. I just cant do that. I have way more time than money LOL... The inner fenders mustve been changed because they are perfect. Hmmm... Bill in TR

I have a '69 I'm parting out, and will be listing the parts shortly. I will take a look at these pieces tomorrow, as the car is 18 miles away, so I won't be doing it tonight. Might not be much better. I know how you feel. I just retired, and I had no qualms about dropping money on my vehicles when I was working. But until the money all gets shaken out (Social Security is playing with me, my last paycheck which should have been paid 10/31 still isn't paid, they dropped my youngest son off the medical, etc.). Once it all gets straightened out, I'll be OK. Anyway, I'll get back to you in the AM with some pix.

Bill, I MIGHT still have the right side patch for the core support that I no longer need, I will have to check tomorrow. I bought it to repair mine and ended up finding a nice original core support so never used the patch. Just can't remember if I unloaded it already or not.

Thanks guys... yeah, with insurance BS and the nobamacare thing happening soon, ya gotta wonder which way to turn. Anything as long as its solid can be banged flat; that's no problem, but flattening air is another story! Ive got cut off grinders and a fresh bottle of 75/25 for the Miller MIG welder, and time; so much time LOL... Please let me know whatcha got.
Anyone have any experience/ideas how close the earlier ones are (68-69s) for reference? If even close, I can make them work. Even a 225 or Riviera, just so there something to work with. TIA... Bill in TR

    wheelz 'B' is for Buick.

Bill... 68-69 wont really help you. They are different. Electra, Rivi, W'cat, etc are not gonna hepp ya either.
MY SUGGESTION..since you obviously have more time than money... your core support appears to have plenty of good steel around the rusty areas. . . . Why not stop by your local SCRAP METAL dealer, buy pieces of flat 0.80 stock steel, cut out the rusted areas and weld the new steel onto those areas... For a coupla buc$ and the LONG WINTER ahead..., :bla:. . . by the April thaw, you could have a nice rebuilt core support ready to install.....

Prolly wouldnt cost ya more than $40-50 in materials and a few weeks labor!

    I'm just say'n!

I guess mine won't work. Also, Wheelz makes a valid point.

That's probably whats gonna happen. Gramps was a tin knocker and I did inherit some of his skills along with my welder and my Delta band saw with steel cutting blade, Im gonna give it a shot. Im sure theres gonna be more pics with that project too LOL... Bill in TR

Crazy as it sound but steel is steel, old fridges, washers/dryers are all good solid flat steel with some strength to them. You dont get much flatter than that and most folks will give you one for junk.

I was gunna suggest old outside a/c condensor unit covers or heater covers...manufactured to withstand outside elements and are usually a heavier gauge steel. :)

I did MIC the core support and it came in about .045 which is about 18ga. I like the "curb alert" idea... always see that stuff on craigslist. Hmmm . The ceramic coating sure wont hurt longevity either!! Off to another project... thank GOD for the time Ive got! ws

I prefer to call it "thrifty", though as a kid we were so broke that we didn't even have a rug to pull up to "watch the floor show". :pp

Awww!! Thats cute.. we were so broke we coudnt pay attention LOL Even put slot machine tokens on the plate sunday...

So what I was hoping for would've played out like this... Jimmy asks dad to use the Buick to take his date out; Dad beaming says sure kid and tosses him the keys with the addendum "Be Careful!" At 11:30 p.m. the flat bed shows up with some greasy guy at the door saying "where ya want it...?"

The kid being an A student and having helped dad rebuild the car just had to show off to his "chick" and the guys what that ol' hot rod will do. Made it to the end of the school parking lot, all squirrelly and hit a tree. Fenders are OK but everything in the middle is gone.

I really want that core support even tho its mangled... Somebody has to have one behind the barn. I don't expect it for nothing, just FMV (fair market value) for what I need off it. If not, its off to see Jesse White, the maytag repairman hahaha... Bill in TR

I have been coming up with that 99 price so MG is cheaper. I must have got that from one here that was getting rid of it. I will have to do something on the race car but it won't have to OEM right? I would rather have an all Aluminum for it.

Hey Bill, I didn't see the right side patch I thought I had while I was in the barn, but I'll look a bit more tomorrow (might be in the shed).
