NOS 70-2 Core Support--LOADED WITH EXTRAS

    SOLD 3/26/14

NOS '70-2 Core Support. Available bare or "loaded" (nose piece, replated hood latch assembly and bolts/clips, new headlight bearings, new headlight bucket springs, replated headlight adjusters and screws, etc, etc, etc).

Price is $600 bare and $750 "loaded" + shipping costs which, if crated/boxed, will have to also include some $ for materials (I build a wooden frame around and attached to the support when I ship these.....then it's all wrapped in box material....VERY THOROUGH and DURABLE packing job that takes many, many hours).

The support is painted with GM Underhood Restoration Paint (Satin to Semigloss type look).

I can send more pics and answer questions. Post your interest here and we can then correspond, send pics, etc via email and PM.

Sorry about the pic...I can send many more with better detail if you express interest.

    Thanks

Austin to Chicago is a "long" trip, perhaps it could be pick it up in route?

May open it up to more buyers?

$750 loaded is a good deal!

Don---Yes, picking it up and will have some additional room in the vehicle.

Thanks for the compliments on the work:TU:

They are headed back pretty directly and don't have much time, if any, to spare for dropoffs, etc.

I've already sent a radiator support to the Philly area via Greyhound and it wasn't the greatest fun packing it up for shipment......ughhhh!!

    Thanks

Bump - Delivery would now be local (or within TX) OR I can ship Greyhound.

There is a SLIGHT POSSIBILITY that I would be driving to the Chicago area in the next 2-3 months...still waiting on a customer to get his car back up there.

Here's a pic of a core support I packed up and shipped, via Greyhound a couple years ago...this "crate" gets wrapped with cardboard.

Austin to Chicago got to go thru St Louis

IMG_4848.jpg That trip was planned a long time ago and never happened but there are a couple alternatives.

I have a customer that makes trips periodically to St. Louis with a truck (Escalade or a Chevy 1/2 ton truck)...not sure if he has anything coming up but that's one possibility.

I can also forego the "wood crating" part of the packaging and use LOTS of the heavy duty, double corrugated, cardboard material (with some padding on the corners, etc)..this would save A LOT of time on my end. Packaging would still be very thorough. This would be the "ship Greyhound" option.

If you have any interest let me know and I can check with the guy here.

"The math" on this is pretty good....price out all the small stuff that's included in this package. You eliminate a bunch of potential shipping charges for all these smaller items and you get a nice nose piece and COMPLETELY RESTORED hood latch/lock assembly to boot. There is A LOT OF VALUE in this deal.

ON TOP OF ALL THIS I WILL ALSO INCLUDE:

    >4 nice used metal headlight buckets - beadblasted and epoxy primed

    >4 nice used stainless steel original headlight "rings"/bezels (these hold the headlights to the buckets)

Pretty soon the only thing left is going to be me coming to the buyer's place to pull on the headlight switch! The "hidden" savings in all this is the time and hassle factor....locating/buying the small stuff, beadblasting and cleaning, sending off for replating, paying MORE shipping charges for all the small stuff.

Pic attached of a hood latch/lock assembly, misc headlight related parts and some misc clips/pads for the lower support.

I'LL EVEN INCLUDE A NEW GAS TANK PAD if that's what it takes.

    Thanks

Detroit...then it would have to go Greyhound OR depending on your schedule....I may be making a trip to the Chicago area in the next couple months with a truck and a bunch of restored parts for a customer, in which case, this core support would easily fit in.

Haven't nailed anything down yet on this Chicago trip so I don't have any exact dates, etc when that would happen.

    Thanks

I would love to pick up a handle like that, my '72 has a knob end which can be hard to grab when opening the hood...

NELSON - I have other, complete and restored, hood lock/handle/relay setups here that I have restored and will sell. Very nicely finished with new rod retainer clips, etc.

As far as the other items in the pic you posted (the headlight bucket related items)....those are not for sale separate from the radiator support at this time. For now, I want to keep those items with the support in case someone is interested in the "loaded" version that I am offering. Of course, if someone ends up buying just the bare support I will have these headlight bucket-related items available.

TOM(Detroit) - I can make a handle for you that is the same shape/size/etc as the original. It won't have the rubber coating on the end but a tight fitting piece of rubber hose could be slipped onto it for a similar effect. The handle in the pic below is one that I made. I can have it plated as well in the silver/clear zinc finish or just leave it bare or painted. I also have the correct retainer clips for the handle (you can see one in the pic). IMG_5140.jpg

Sounds like a good idea...I like the silver shown in the pic, any rust resistant finish will do thought...shoot me a price?
