    Hey, Eric

No, the tires don't rub. I measured very carefully, and would be more than happy to speak with you about fitting them. Only thing is that I am using F Body spindles, so things might be different. Please feel free to ask away - or PM me.

I doubt any time in the near future I'll be running that big of a tire, but I had always been hearing that 255/40/17's were tough to fit on Chevelles without modifying the inner fender well, so seeing a 285/40 is pretty cool. I just didnt know if you had to modify anything (besides the spindle) or if it was just a measure once, carefully type of thing like the guys that run the 325's in the rear without cutting (much).

I think if I do run one that size, it'll probably be on a 15 or 16" road racing style rim, I sure would love to run 275's all around and go nascar-like with the wheels.

Well, I did have some old C4 Corvetter rims hanging around. They are 17x9.5" but as you may know, they have a boatload of rear spacing. So - I made wooden spacer blocks to change the offset to 5" and 5.5". Of course, I couldn't drive with the spacers, but I could see where the Vette rims sat on the car. When I found that Centreline made the style 13s with both 5" AND 5.5" offset, I was psyched. 5.5" turned out to be perfect. If Centerline still offered Custom 17" Style 13s I'd probably order some 17 x 11's with 6" backspacing. A 315/35/17 would be sweet and They would fit. Too bad Centerline stopped 17" altogether in that wheel :(
