What is the nicest car you have ever driven...Going by all the stats here. 0-60, HP, price...
As you probably heard by now, I work at a Ford dealership, so the nicest car I have ever driven is...either a 2003 Mach 1 Mustang (see following story) a new t-bird(where's the indifferent smilie?) or a 199? Firebird formula Convertible (co-workers)
Anyhow, the Mach 1 story...This happened just today at work.

Well, today was a benchmark day for me. I was washing my car in the shop at work, and the guy who gave the car to me comes out and says, "Hey, when you're done here, could you do me a favor and bring in the Mach 1?" I said, "That's not a favor to YOU" so I hurried up on my car, and went to get the keys to the Mach 1. I was shaking in aprehension. I got in the car an started it up. Oh yeah, it sounded good! So, I'm OBVIOUSLY not going to move it just the 25 or so feet into the garage...I take a detour around the building. It was perfect...NOBODY around...One person to hear anything if he could hear it clear accross the building...I revved it up and dumped the clutch, and was very dissapointed at first. Then, I realize traction control is on. So I turned it off, and turned around to try again. Rev it up, dump the clutch. I've NEVER had so much fun in my entire life. I had some fun there for a couple minutes. Did a total of 4 burnouts. Then took it to the garage and revved it up in there. The revs drop too slowly for my liking. I walk around back of it, and see the exhausts were smoking...It was just about perfect...So, I climb back into my Geo, shaking. And I see a cop driving though the lot, picking up his car from service....heh heh

hard when you can't count Buicks

I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to drive allot of great cars over the years. The one that always gave me the biggest kick though was a 1983 Ferrarri 308. It was down right fun to drive. Expensive to keep up, but fun to drive. Another was a Callaway Corvette Conv twin turbo, that car gave you an instant facelift.

Mine would have to be a 68 Corvette 427/435 horse, 3-2BBL, 4-speed roadster. The car had incredible power and was beautiful besides. Back then it was an old vette, now they are about unreachable.

My second choice would have been a 70 W-30 442 fastback, also an awesome car to drive, and one I wish I ended up with.

I am a car dealer and I go to the auctions 3 or 4 times a week. I've driven just about everything you could imagine.

A few that impressed me the most are......Z06 VETT.....S500 BENZ......H2 HUMMER.......& a "PRO MOD" Lumina Nitrous Shoot Out Car a guy was trying to sell a few years back. He needed $75,000 for the race car!

As far as nice cars go........ 97 lincoln town car. a buddy drives it for a airport shuttle service and uses it as his personal. He starts it on the first runn of the day.... shuts it off after he last.....and not until then. gets 20's on I-70 @80 al day long. Black on black, power every thing, sits like a barkolounger(sp?), rides great, looks great. tight as a drum no squeeks. is just past it's second tune up.

AND has over 270,000 MILES on the clock:jd:

I've driven it and you'd never know it if wern't for the odometer.

    My Father's cars. All pristine.

    61 Caddy convert white/white leather everywhere...chic magnet.

66 Lincoln suicide back doors, had a performance front end that actually out handled all the hotrods on my canyon....

50 Ford lol...straight 6, 3 on the tree, big bulby look'n thing, 16 inch wheels stock.

69 to 74 Fury, I'm not sure what year but man, this was and is the fastest clean classic car I've ever driven. It was sky blue with a white vinyl top, white leather interior. I don't know what the motor size was, maybe someone has a guess, could have been a 440 or 426 hemi or maybe even a 383, it had the 6 pack carbs and you knew it when each opened up..........

Over the years my Dad had a slew of new Caddy's a bunch of different classics Mercs, Chryslers, etc, a couple Mercedez and at one time even a Rolls Royce. When I first saw it, he picked me and my friends up from a junior high school dance in it. My buddy as a joke said " well see ya fellas, here's my ride" as he grabbed for the handle. Then the car stopped and my Dad stepped out and said " Like my new wheels?"

    I miss him.

I got to drive a friends 1970 T/A Challenger about three blocks. Short drive, but lasting impressions. A musclecar like no other. Factory side dumps and a factory fiberglass hood! Its got the whole musclecar image and then some. Short drive, but a good drive.

A bud back in high school had this merc and man did it fly. Back in the day when seat belts where for wimps, his Dad made him put in a 5 point harness. We use to drive from north of Chicago to Maxwell Street (about 20 miles) for pork chop sandwiches late on weekend nights, swing by Taylor Street for Italian ices and get back to Party Central
in a half an hour. Usually pushing 120mph for good stretches. How we didnt end up in jail or dead is a mystery, I think god liked Pork Chop sandwiches too.
Tune ups were fun, had to un bolt the motor mounts and jack up the mill about 3 inches just to change the plugs.
I drove it a few times but out of respect for my buddy Pete I never really stomped on it. As he did the same for my GS.

I have a few nice cars that I've driven. First would be the Porsche 944 I owned, really fun to drive awesome in the corners. My Mustang Cobra convertible was pretty sweet too, but the best would have been the 87 Porsche 930 Turbo:jd: OMG I loved that car I had my financing approved too (thanks Mom!!) Get this, payments were only 900 a month plus another 150 for insurance. God I wish I had no house payment:beer

I know this probably sounds like blashphemy on a Buick message board, but I think the nicest car I've ever driven, at least for the price, is my new '04 Honda Accord V6 Coupe 6 speed. It has power everything, dual climate control, moon roof, heated seats, voice activated nav system and XM radio. With 240 HP on tap and the 6 speed it will do the 1/4 in the very low 14 second range at almost 100. Nice combination of power and luxury, when you are just tooling around it is pretty much silent, and when you get on it you get a nice growl. It isn't really a high performance car, but for a daily driver it is great.

    69GS400s ...my own amusement ride!

Ferrari 308 GTSi - a friend owns it and I've driven it a few times. WOWOW !! What a ride.......

.......but my GS is quicker !!!! That is, up until we hit about 90mph approaching a sweeping 90 deg. right turn in the road.

As I braked, He accelerated around me, through the turn, and exited doing about 120mph !! It was soo cool that later I made him take me back through the same curve with me in the Pass. seat.

He said that entering the turn at that speed - that if you lift the car would get squerrely and that accelerating through it actually plants it better :eek2:

Greg Schmelzer What are you looking at?!

    Here's mine...

    Quickest:

A friend of mine when I lived in Florida had an old Porsche 914 that flat out flew. Now, I know that you are gonna say that it is just a VW with Porsche nametags on it and, normally, I would agree with each and everyone of you. Dad calls them 'the poor man's Porsche!' However, Glen somehow managed to stuff a 450 HP SBC in the thing mid engine. He had a 160 mph speedo in the thing and it went past. I don't know if it was accurate or not, but we were, indeed, flying.

    Smoothest:

Mom used to have an '83 Old Delta 88. Man, there were no bumps in any road with that thing. Actually had some power to it as well. Too bad it had the metric 2004R in it.

    My favorite:

It has to be my current daily driver. My '01 K3500 dually 4X4. Believe it or not, it has a smoother ride than my '97 1/2T Dodge P/U I traded in on it, plus, with the 8.1L, it is a lot of fun playing with ricers, V8 Cherokees, etc. Only thing I miss about the Dodge is the 18 MPG I got on the highway with it. This thing gets 12 - 13 MPG on the interstate empty, which ain't bad. Loaded with trailer and car, about 8K#, gets about 8 on the interstate. Still, I love that truck!!

I'm lucky in that I'm freinds with a VERY VERY rich man, who loves fast cars. The absolute fastest I've ever been in is his brand spanking new ferarri enzo. of course he didnt let em drive his daddy's car, but i did get to ride in it... that thing is scary fast, downright obscene. But you pay for it... hell, you have to use a special oil formulated by ferarri or else they void your warranty, and of course they charge an arm and a leg for it too.... cost of an oil change: something like 75 bucks from what he says... and thats just for the oil.

The best car I've ever DRIVEN is one of his too, his daily driver actually. We go out drinking, and he generally gets a lot more wasted than me and ahs me drive him home, so i get to drive his brand new Mercedes SL600... for those who dont know, its the v-12 twin turbo convertible hardtop. 500 hp and 590 lb.ft from 1800 to 3600 rpm. 0-60 in about 4.5. Car and driver says itll do the 1/4 mile in 11.90. So yeah... its a fast car, mroe torque than a viper :) And the best part is, its one of the most comfortable cars ive ever ahd the pleasure to drive... its pretty much the best of all worlds except maybe price. 130 grand is kinda steep for me :)

That would have to go to the 2004 GMC Yukon Denali. Its probably the most comfortable truck you will ever drive. And its got power to back it up.

I always did love my Eagle Talon TSi, though the Dodge Stealth R/T Twin Turbo I test drove once was hella faster. The salespeople sitting next to you get REAL nervous when you chirp all 4 tires going into 3rd at 70. It was a sweet ride too -- former exec loaner car, forest green with Tan leather and all the options.

I also made the salesman a little nervous when I test drove an Integra TypeR. With the redline at nine grand, you know I just HAD to rev it up to the limiter. :)

    This is a sentimental one.

I think back to all of the cars I've had the opportunity to drive, I always come back to my late Father's '40 Lincoln Continental V12, with a Columbia 2 speed rear axle. (Overdrive)

A great highway car in it's own right.
