Cool. Best of luck to you. If I can't have it at least I might see it at Puyallup next year!
Get some pictures if you can. I went and looked at a car and the guy freaked out when I took a picture. Strange dude.

Looked like a real nice original car with one repaint, would make a great driver with some detailing and minor work. Better than a lot of the junk I have seen out there in the $4k - $6k price range.

Wow! Nice pictures too. Wish I could afford that car right now. You just don't find clean unmolested 65's like that anymore!
Wish I could unload the two projects that I have to pick up that car!

    Hey Guys,
this is my first post on this site, and I know it should be posted on some kind of intro side, but I just saw that ad too, and had to ask this question:

why aren't there a phonenumber on the ad? Can anyone help me with a number? I have writting to the email on the craigslist though.

I my self are looking for a nice 1965 Skylark, and that one looks nice I think.

But I'll give you a short intro anyway. My name is Jens Pedersen, and I come from Denmark in Europe. I have always loved the old Buicks and I used to have a 1965 Skylark, which was pretty rusty, so I had to sell it. Now I have a 1972 4 door HT Skylark Custom, which the American Embassy in Denmark bought brand new back in 1972. The looks of it has changed a bit since then, since it got pretty 1980's pimped back in the eighties and still has that look. Its purple with highjackers and the interior has been "upgrated" with leopard print carpet and doorsides. To finish the late seventies- mid eighties theme, the car also has corvette sidepipes one it. Some might think its awfull and badtaste, but I like it the way it is, since its a typical picture of how the cars looked like back then. The paint and the way the car looks is from 1989.

Just want to say that it is pretty cool with a site like this, and I hope I will get to know some of you guys better in time.

Lots of greetings to all of you here from Denmark:)

    Jens Pedersen

  8. these are my initial thoughts and i may be way off base.

if Chris made it a point to drive over to see the car then he was obviously prepared to buy it. he must have saw things that he didn't feel comfortable with because if the car was a steal at $4500 he would own it. Chris has been doing this long enough to know if a car is a deal or not. am i right Chris?

You are crazy Joe, we don't have "pit free" pot metal in the NW, too wet here for that!

if you look real close, you can see some on the passenger side tail light bezel. :)

Welcome Jens.:beer Yoiu should go into the "Wet behind the ears" section and introduce yourself and go from there.

Good analysis Bob. But this one is a little complicated though. He had several other people coming to look at it on Saturday and Sunday (at least one other board member, I am trying to find out if he is seriously interested or not), and he didn't want to sell the car until Monday, as the title is at the bank and he has to have his 90+ year old mother sign off on it.

    Hello Joe,

I have just made my intro under "wet behind the ears". I'm unfortunately not in the states now, which makes it a lot more difficult to buy a nice car here in the US. I'm having the feeling that most people don't take me serious, when I tell them I'm from Denmark, and that I'm interested in their car. Or maybe they think it is scam or something and therefore get afraid. I don't know..?

But I was in the US for the first time in 2007 and that is definately not the last time I visit this great country. I had a fantastic trip:)

I think you americans are very openminded and extremely helpful. That's my experience on my US trip but also from other american car sites:)

Well the reason for not putting your phone number or email address in the add is because you get a bunch of scam artists that will call or email you. It's best to make the email you then weed through them. Plus you will get people that will call the house at ungodly hours!

As for Joe... not all of us have your bucket of cash to drive that thing home!
Nice ride and I would love to have it but I'm about $4,499 short about now.

Only 1 of my old cars has a/c, and that car has two flat tires, no battery, a leaking transmission and hasn't moved since I bought it.

There are plenty of things the pictures don't show. The car is no "cherry", its a driver. It has its share of little bumps and bruises and minor rust bubbles (West coast rust, not east coast rust) and rust holes in the inner fender by the battery.

Slap a 4 barrell on it (or tune/rebuild the 2 barrell) and convert the brakes to power and you would have a great car to drive. Heck, the radio and heater blower still work, and it has paperwork. Is it a good buy at $4,500? I think so, if that is what you are looking for.

No doubt! As a matter of fact, if it wasn't gonna cost me 2g's to get it here, I'd allready have it!!

Good car at a fair price.

I've seen Jamie's car and it is a very good car for the money. Paint and some interior and you are a happy camper! Very dry in Usk compared to the coast.
I wish I could pick up his car. I think it is a diamond in the rough. Probably go through the engine and put a 4 barrel on it, maybe upgrade the tranny to have three gears and just drive the tires off of it!
Only reason for even going through the engine is it's 45 years old. He drove it from Northeast Washington all the way to Puyallup and back, mountains and all!

Comparing this car to Jamie's, since that seems to be the one everyone wants to talk about:

His is probably more mechanically sound, as he has done the basic maintenance items and this one has not had those things done.

The interior in this car is a lot better. It just needs to be cleaned. No rips, no tears.

The chrome on this one is real nice, can't remember How nice Jamie's was.

I think the body on Jamie's may be better? This one has very small bubbles in the usual places and a very smal amount around the rear window. Does not appear to be leak.

Trunk appears solid, so do floors, has some rust through on the inner fender in front of battery. Don't know about Jamie's.

Paint on this is probably a one or two footer and in my opinion is a lot better than Jamie's. You could drive this one without painting it and people would admire it as it drove up. It would probably polish up nicely, but that would also highlight the dings, etc., so its a double edged sword.

Needs tires, tune up, brakes checked, carb tuned/rebuilt, slight exhaust leak, the usual stuff. None of the above would stop you from driving it now, it runs fine as is.

Since it has 145k miles, it probably will need suspension at some point as well.

This one is a 1 owner car,has paperwork since new, receipts, purchase invoice, protecto plate. I think that is pretty cool.

If you put this one next to Jamie's on a car lot and priced this one $1k more than his car, 9 out of 10 would buy this one. It may be better, or may not be. This one is prettier, hands down. And that is what sells in this world, whether its cars, girls, flowers, it doesn't matter.

Jamie's is a real solid car, but it does not like pretty as it currently sits. It is still nice, just its beauty is below the skin. this one may be beautiful below the skin too, you just don't have to look that far to find beauty.
