...bonus, you get out of the ticket around here if they miss the car make/model.... I suppose without the badges you could park pretty much anyplace!

"Badges? Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!"

    ....and ANOTHER thing

Any of you ever get the self appointed Historian on ANYTHING tell you that the Buick 455 is the same as a Olds engine ?? I love that one. My usual response is ....Is the Olds engine the Same as the Pontiac 455 ??

On the topic of Fake-Outs......Here's uow my RoadMaster Estate Wagon is currently badged

and lastly.....sometimes for fun I pull into a lot with a bunch of Ricers and let them gaze at my Tailgate emblem

Having owned over 8 chevelles over the years and 6 olds 442s and now my favorite the 70 GSX i have, i think i have had heard all my non chevelles called chevelles or malibus at least once or twice while i owned them. I think the average person most commonly knows what a chevelle is and associates it with any car that looks vaguely simular. Im sure i may have done it when i was a greenhorn! Forgive these people....it is up to us to convince them that buicks are better!

Chris and Brad- I love stories like that! I once was talking to a new car buddy at a show, his '55 Chevy-Bob Falfa replica was next to my GS clone and there was a mid '60s Buick nearby with the hood open, and had a gorgeous 455 sitting under it. I was talking to the other guy about whether or not Buick had plans for the 455 by '67 or something, I think that was the year Buick it was in, and we concluded they must be working on the 455 or something quite similar, but no engines yet, maybe a mockup, and the Buick owner sorta kinda overheard us and thought we were calling his car a fake. "I like the 455 and I don't pretend it's original and bark bark bark". I had to work at calming the guy down! I pointed at my car and said, "No, THAT guy owns a fake", and he said "Who's that?" and I said, "Me". Shows can be wacky sometimes, I guess. But I enter for yucks, I imagine it was a no-fun situation to have a judge tell you your car's a custom, Brad.

Ray, how come I've never seen a yellow GSX prowling around rte. 138 or in Stoughton center?? You hiding that thing or what? I'm right down the street from you almost...but 138's a long street, eh?

Hey Chris. You havent seen my GSX yet because i just bought it about a month ago and its in hiding till spring of course! Check out pictures of my GSX on the "members rides" section on the board. Where do you hang out for cruises? I go to Rileys roast beef in framingham on saturdays and the Southeastern regional school cruise on route 106 in easton every other thursday (the best cruise!)

    Ah, new car, I see.

Usually my "cruise" tends to be up to my shop to do more work:laugh: I have this bad habit of doing upgrades well into the summer and miss most opportunities to cruise, but my car's driven to work spring/summer- I get to enjoy it. I daresy the GSX won't be a daily driver. Had plans to go to Riley's last summer. Had plans to go to the drive in a few times, too...don't go to the one just over the border in RI that has three screens. Forget the name of it, but it's on a hill! So one screen has the cars nose down, and two have the cars on a 45* angle AND tilted left to right! Plus everyone got sick from the food. Not exactly "fun" I'll probably see you driving this spring on some nice Sundays, I hope:TU:

PS, where is that in Easton? Should I admit I was one of the rowdy, stay-till-3 am-in-the-parking-lot types that used to hang out at the Irish Emabassy?

The funny thing is, for the same amount of money i got for the Yenko chevelle clone (30k) i bought an extremely nice matching numbers well documented original stage 1 GSX.....kinda whacked isnt it??

Ray, have I seen your former car at the Endicott car show in Dedham? That car looks very familiar to me.

I actually was not at the endicott dedham show with the yenko this past summer..it was having the heads redone. But i was at several shows and cruises with it. You might be familiar with my orange 70 442 w30, i have a pic of it posted in the members cars section under "cars we used to own". I had that car for 3 years and was everywhere with it!

If they say it's an Oldsmobile, at least they're closer. Buicks look a heck of a lot more like Oldsmobiles than Chevies. I've had my D88 called a Caprice or an Impala before.

I used to have a cutlass that people always called a monte. Man that pissed me off. My buddy with a GN gets real pissed when people call his car a monte.
