"Nice Chevelle!" :af: So Im at the windsheild place getting a new windsheild put in my 65, and Im standing there watching the guy put it in, and some kid, a little older than me, comes up to me and says "Nice Chevelle!" I just rolled my eyes and said "Its a buick, not a chevy." Then he says "you sure? sure looks like a chevelle." :af: :moonu: :moonu: :blast: what an idiot.uzzled: ________ Hurt from depakote
"Are you sure"? "Are you SURE"?! "Are YOU SURE"?!?! "ARE YOU SURE "?!?!?! Shoulda told him he was right, it was really a '65 Monte SS. Then he'd say, "They didn't make one that year" and you'd say "Are you sure? It sure looks like a '65 Monte SS...you dumb jerk!" Then you could show him your other "Chevy": :moonu:
I get the following conversation at car shows... Wow - I had a car just like that one... ...except that it was a Pontiac... ...and it was a 4-door... ...and it had a 350 automatic in it... ...and it was white... ou: The only similarity was they were both made by GM in the same decade :moonu:
I hate to admit this, BUT...... back when i had a little "worse" attitude about life, and the other beings on this planet, i used to do this.... i had this happen with my 66' one time, after that i went and got a ad from some magazine on learning to read. kinda like one of those, hooked on phonics things. i think it was something like "the ABC's and how we read", or something, anyways. i made a few photo copies of the ad and put clear tape over them. like laminating them. that way if anytime anyone ever said the infamous "chevelle" thing again, i handed them a a card and told them "i'm sorry, maybe this will help". stupid looks and a few "i can read" comments were a sure fire way to make my day. hand them the card and point at the car and say "try again, you'll get it"........ that was then and this is now though, i would just as soon just grin and nod. i can always think to myself though.......i must be getting soft in my old age. but then again...........Hooked on Phonics does have a free information sheet i think.................... later................................
had me on the floor! Here's the link to the last thread talking about stupid people. It's pretty funny... http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10741
I get a kick out of the people that look at the X-Camino and say, "You know my dad had 2 of these". I just smile and say, "That's cool." As long as they like it I'm happy. Duane
Being relatively new Buicks, this summer in Kokomo IN at the BCA nationals, this guy pulls in and starts unloading what appeared to be a relatively poor attempt at a GSX clone....I comment to the guy next to me that the hood scoops are all wrong, and the rear wing isnt correct "Looks like they molded it to the quarter extensions''. Oh' it also had seats that look like they came out of my Fountain (boat)....Fortunately the gentelman shut me up before I completely embarassed myself..........An hour late after a history lesson from Brad Conley I discovered my new favorite BUICK........What an awesome piece of history!!!!!
I installed a '99 Escalade front clip on my Chev p/u, complete with CADILLAC on the doors and a wreath on the tailgate. You should hear all the comments how their uncle has one to "I knew Cadillac was making a pick-up but thats the first one I've seen." LOL.
Only one was a pontiac and the other was an olsmobile and both were 4 doors and the pontiac had dual wheels on the back:laugh:
Scott, I have seen the same thing running around town here. I saw it on the roda the other day and thought it was rather interesting. Of course I knew it was a swap, because they're the SAME cars underneath. You can fool LOTS of people doing that!
This one kinda made me laugh... I was on a random drive to long island at 3:00 in the morning a few months ago... actually was picking up my stranded brother... anyway, I drive thru the toll, and the guy in the booth goes "cool car, is that the car Vin Diesel had in triple X?" I'm just like, "Yep, same one!".... hmmmm midsixties GTO... 72 4 dr skylark....
People are always bitching about the same thing in the sportbike forums about everyone refering to their bike as a ninja. No matter what make, it is always considered a "NINJA" to the non-bikers. Hell most of em couldn't tell ya the difference between a harley and a honda.uzzled: I wouldn't get mad. I think stupid people are humorous.
Thanks, Chris. Believe me, I am accustomed to it by now...the BCA tried to put me in the "custom" class a few years ago. The old guy assigning classes (who owned a 55 Super or something...) said Buick never made one like that. Had to have my documentation faxed to the motel to prove it to him. ou: uzzled:
Send them here! Just make some cards with this e-mail address. Tell them they can claim a prize there or something for identifying your car. http://digilander.libero.it/caricacell/ Good luck!
Yea, I know what you mean, mine is a"GTO"most of the timeuzzled:.....but it has been a "red chevy" on a parking ticket......LOL
