Just finished designing and producing a limited run of a 5 color screen printed photo realistic Buick Nail Head T-Shirt. This has been a very popular graphic on both mycustom fuel pump block off plates and engine, fender valve cover badges. The shirts are 100% cotton and all screen printing was performed here in the good old USA! Here is the link. http://www.ebay.com/itm/111580320983?var=&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 Checkout out some of the other Buick CNC pieces while you are there and email me with any questions, thanks Paul Plummer
Thank you! Will ship your shirt Monday via usps priority mail and will send you a tracking number. Paul
Thanks for the input guys on the dual-quad version. I personally own a 66 GS with a 401 and Q-jet set-up. I had a tough decision to make when deciding on a nail-head graphic. The dual quad engine is absolutely beautiful and it was between this and the Hilborn version. The Hilborn version crosses over and picks-up the earlier hot-rod crowd. I have sold more aluminum fuel pump block-offs, keychains and engine badges with this graphic than almost any other so decided I would go with the Hilborn Nail-head for my first stab at selling apparel. I could put together a killer dual-quad shirt design for sure. Think we could find enough people to buy 50 of these? That's about the minimum number of shirts I need to run per design to offset the cost of dual sided, multi-color silkscreen printing here in the US. Let me know how many dual-quad guys would be interested and lets see if we can get close. I will go ahead and work up the line art for the dual quad to run on my aluminum CNC pieces based on you input and will cut a pieces to see what you think. Thanks again for the feedback. Paul
I'd probably go for Two or Three Dual Quad designs in different colors. Burgundy to match my car for sure. Jim
I'd buy two dual quad versions for sure. You might run the designs by the members here before printing them up. I'd prefer w/o air cleaner or small air cleaners but with OE air cleaner would be cool also.
I would be in for at least 3+ dual quad shirts. And yes, small air cleaners so you can tell its a dual quad would be preferred by me at least.
Great feedback. Anybody have photograph of a dual quad nail head on an engine stand or dyno? What looks best is an isometric picture with headers and no air Cleaner. If you look at my big block Buick engine badge you can see the best view for creating the art. I searched the Web and all I could find were pictures of dual quads in the car and a few limited photos of engines out of the car but not shot from a good perspective. The process we use to get the photo realistic effect requires a good photo. post or email a photo you maybe the lucky person to have your engine on the shirt. I love nail head people!!!
Here's two that are beautiful. There is a thread related to this engine from last year that may be able to supply better pics or possibly the owner/shop could provide the pics. This is what I want my nailhead to look like one day...less the dual quads.
I'd be in for 1/2 dozen in assorted colours (3 for me and 3 for my wife) with the small air cleaners. the engines would have to be Buick Green of course
I just have my engine mocked up for now. I just wanted to see what It would look like done. Jim Oh Well, They wouldn't upload. Sure were nice pictures.
Thanks for the pictures and info. In my seach for dual quad photos I ran across this youtube video. Who knew cub cadet installed Dual Quad Nailheads into their line-up of garden tractors? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adXeOtL_Duw Amazing! Spent a few more hours last night trying to find a dual quad photo. I would be guessing that you guys would like to stick pretty close to the factory dual-quad engine with factory Buick dress-up kit - i.e finned aluminum valve covers. leave off big factory air cleaner that hides the dual quads- etc. reality is that every picture I did find of a dual quad Buick seemed to have offy valve covers, polished aluminum everything and more in line with street rodder crowd stuffing into an old ford rather than the factory production style engine. I like the photos of the engine Mark posted but here again this is mostly street rod style stuff. Everyone interested in buying shirts please let me know if I am reading you guys right and if so somebody hook me up with someone with a factory dual 4 set-up sitting on an engine stand or dyno that we can take a picture of. Again to do the photo realistic t-shirt stuff I have to work from a photograph of the real thing. Thanks!
Ok, So I haven't located just the perfect photo but I have found several that are pretty cool and may work....suffice to say I have a "guy" that is going to put together some concepts for you boys review. Know going into this that the chances of me making everyone interested in the dual quad design happy are about as slim as this 5'-7", 48 year old playing in the NBA! I will do my best to get you a design that hits the 85%+ mark for all interested parties. If I cannot get to that point with the design, I will stop the personal cash bleed on my end and chalk one-up to experience. The lessons we learn the most from usually are the ones that cost us the most! It will take me about 2 weeks to get the proofs turned around and I will keep you posted, thanks. Paul Plummer
