    Hello from Germany!

    My name is Arno
    I'm the proud owner of a '66 Le Sabre 400 Convertible-340 /2V/Super turbine 400-Switch Pitch
Drove the car for 2 years-needs resoration and transmission overhaul now. This car is pretty rare over here in Germany,so parts are hard to come by.Found this site while surfing the net, think I'll login often !:)

    Thanx-
Would like to see more old Buicks over here in Germany-
    most american cars are Chevy's.
Hope to get my car back on the road in moderate time.Bought me a new converible top/new glass back window and all the weathersrip a year ago-but did not put it on the car, instead I cruised around with a 3M taped up top, noisy lifters and a leaking tranny.
    does anybody have a picture(details)of a interior from a '66 Le Sabre 400-mine has a custom,non orig, leather interior

Don't feel bad, Arno. There may be the most American made cars here in this country, but the classic car hobby is dominated by Chevies in this country too.

That's especially true here in Buffalo, as the chevy engine plant is located right here in Tonawanda. I like showing my dual quad Buick at the local shows and cruises. The Ford, Chevy, and Mopar guys look at it like it was some kind of alien from outer space. They usually say "I didn't know Buick made a dual quad!" "did it come from the factory like that?"

    Welcome, Arno. I 'm a new guy,too.

    Thanks Joe,
most of my buddys tell me to go the easy way and put in a 350 chevy-its the' ticket to ride' over here, but I will leave the car the way it came from the factory(exept a electric fan assy I took out of a 300 Mercedes W 109,also build in '66). I have a couple american cars I want to restore:'63 Lincoln Continental,'69 Firebird with the OHC L6,'71 Firebird Formula 400,a '56 Ford Fairlane full Custom,a'60 Impala 2dr Htp and a '61Cadillac 4dr Htp Sdn.For 2 wheel fun: a rigid frame Harley davidson Pan/Shovel and a '74 ironhead Sportster. You see,I'm a great fan of american
cars and bikes(thats why :Oldcarsnbikes),but I like my Buick best !

    Hello Bruce and Shirl,
    Thank you!
I have a lot of questions!I could use a source to buy a complete transmission overhaul/rebuild kit for my '66 super turbine 400 with the switch pitch converter.Over here it is no problem getting a turbo 400 rebuild kit-but the years you can use it on always starting with '67-so I figure if I buy one there will be missing / wrong parts in it.Could use interior photos and a adress where to buy door panels and seat covers for my convertible

    Arno,

You can always join in and use the club's knowledge, they are a very enthousiast bunch of Buick nuts. And really into 50's Buicks, president Thomas Hanssen even shipped his Buick to Flint this summer to join in at the Flint party.

And every month there's a nice get-together "Monatlicher Stammtisch" in Restaurant Korfu, close to Autobahnkreuz Hilden (am E-46) I went there last September, good Greek food !

Hi Arno, Glad to have you with us. What part of Germany are you located? I spent 19 months in Giesen thanks to Uncle Sams military draft. That was from July 71- Feb 73. I was a wheeled vehicle mechanic. Even had my wife there most of the time and our first son was born in Frankfort. Loved the country, loved the beer, didn't love so much the military life. I drove an Opal Kadette while I was there. Closest I could afford to a American Buick, great little car, 4cyl, 4spd on the tree! Keep hangin around this board and you will gain all kinds of information on your Buick and meet some really great people too. Later, Mike

    Mike,

Tell your son it's Frankfurt, not Frankfort. He needs the correct name for official documents....:pp

    Just kidding Mkie....

But did you ever go back to Germany after that time in the service?

Nope, I never made it back . I would like to someday, just seems like there is never enough time or money to do all the things you would like to do. My wife and I also took some tours to Switzerland and France and all over Germany while we were there. I knew that would probably be our only chance to see those countries and we are really glad we did! Disn't make it up to your neck of the woods, maybe someday when I'm rich and famous. Later, Mike

    Hello Mike!
I bet you won't believe this: I live about 13 Km away from Giessen, next to Langgoens,in Niederkleen, only 1 Km away from Kirchgoens .There was a U.S. Army base ,known as 'THE ROCK',home of the 3rd armored division.
I grew up with americans around me,there where almost as many Americans living in my town than Germans. We had lots of fun then,it was where I made the first contakt with american cars and bikes(was around 15 then). One american friend let me ride his Yamaha 370 enduro quite often in the woods around town,so I was used to driving when I made my drivers licence with 18(normal age over here) Arno

I saw the car. I believe he had family with him. I thought he was going to drive Route 66 from Chi town down to the southwest after Flint.
