Picked this up today, and got it back to the shop.

455-4, Posi rear end, Bucket seats, center console, yadda yadda. Still learning about all the options and differences. Ive only been a Buick owner for about 6 hours, and its my first one. Any insight/help would be great!

83,000 orig miles, Purchased new here in Tulsa, and the orig owner passed away 5 years ago. Bought from an estate auction. The orig title, and all paperwork came with the car. (sold for $6,000 in May of 71) Its been sitting for 5 years. Turns over, but I didnt try to start it. Going to drain oil and gas tomorrow, then go from there. A buddy of mine owns a body shop, so its going to get completely re-done... but to a non factory color.

    Anyway, here are some pics.

    Thanks for lookin! :TU:

Welcome to one of the best Buick sites on the internet, and congrats on your boattail ! . . . looks like a keeper 4 sure.
There were quite a few beautiful versions at our recent annual Riviera Owners Association meet in Harrisburg/Hershey, PA. A few also made it to the GM Nationals in Carlisle, PA. after the meet.
Check out the ROA website for info on your '71 ! www.rivowners.org :TU:

Nice score! You even got buckets and a console too! I think if you use the search function on this board you'll discover plenty of information. What you don't find- just ask!

Thanks Scott! There is only a small amount of rust at the bottoms of both front fenders, near the doors. Thats it! none around the windows, cowl, trunk (at all!) or floorpans. Everything is VERY solid!

  10. Nice score and welcome to the site. I hafta ask - is that one little "spot" on the photo of the left rear quarter where you cut through "nature's car cover" with a sponge and some Dawn detergent?

Oh, and today we dropped in a new battery, changed the oil and filter (even tho it looked really good!) disconnected the fuel line from the carb, sprayed some starting fluid in it, and the damn thing started right up, and runs good! I'm amazed. Didnt put in the new points, or anything. Just VROOOOM after 5 years of sitting!

What are your plans? Just stock resto with a color change or a custom or?

  14. No reason to be amazed. This is a Buick. Like no other marque. Welcome to the Club of previously-amazed ordinary car drivers. You've finally arrived.:bglasses:

    IT RUNS AND DRIVES!!!

New gas, vaccum lines, tranny fluid, and a lot of glass cleaner, and we drove around the shopping center for a few minutes, and got a snow cone.

oh, and it does 2 wheel burnouts, and scares the crap out of the women working out in the Curves place. hahahahahhaha

Spent some time under the hood, cleaning, and making a list. Found all the rubber seals for the doors, windows, and trunk on ebay. anyone have any experience with these kits? seems like a decent deal for $150ish
