Jim, I feel as though I'm being led around by the ring in my nose. This is not helping me make plans for my engine. [IMG] Nothing really against you, I'm just frustrated[IMG] and want to smash my computer (JK!!) sometimes!! No really, I had wanted to build my car again this year, but I don't think that's really all that likely. There is just not enough certainty in me which way I want to go right now. Too many unanswered questions, with the two different blocks. T/A aluminum vs PAE iron block. Light weight vs brute strength. That's one way that I look at it. Kind of apples to oranges though. They both definately have some really good attributes. And I'm sure they each have their own little quirks (read MORE MONEY to fix). But neither side wants to say anything right now about details. I think that I can understand why, not wanting to start a[IMG] [IMG]after reading all of the posts about them.

It's really too bad that I really want/need a new block, one of two that are coming out soon (maybe???:Do No: ), and nothing is being done to SELL IT TO ME! I am going to buy one or the other, and what these two vendors say and do, (or NOT say/do) is probably going to influence me. I wish we could use this forum board to offer up each choice fairly and honestly to help members decide without FLAME WARS. Pipe dream, HUH!!

Don't forget, this is just my opinion!:moonu:

    Grant,

If your that interested, call Jim Burek, who is selling the iron block, and then Mike at TA, who is making the aluminum one.

Then throw a couple G at one or the other.. that should help calm you down.

And yes, I hate to get into any specifics here, as there are plenty of folks out there who want to bash one or the other outfit here, regardless of what product is being discussed..

I won't get involved in that, just will say "buyer beware".

    Bulldog is in Indianapolis..

I think it's great that a choice exists. competition amongst vendors can be to our benefit(the buick community),new parts, part availabity, etc..

Like Jim mentioned....both these guys have business reputations to worry about so I don't think you'll see them out here touting anything til they are sure the blocks are close to production. Everyone should expect delays....it's the nature of this business as it takes BIG $$$$ to put one of these block casting projects together. Don't take silence as meaning these are not coming---think of it from the side of the people involved.....they can spend all their time talking to us and answering questions---and build up the anticipation and make the risks of disappointing everyone even worse for them. Or they can do what they are doing and spend their time working on getting this thing done. Talk is cheap and with the internet (and boards like this one) the risk of saying too much and not delivering is higher......expect delays-that is normal....and plan accordingly. These guys are already risking a lot of $$$$$, time, etc...don't add fuel to the fire by beating on them for delays that are common in this business. Patton

Jim, you say I should call each of the two sellers, and base a several thousand dollar decision on that alone? What, do I sound stupid? Its not just the $4K on the block that I'm thinking about, but the rest of the engine also. My father once called Hi-Performance engines "a hand gernade with the pin pulled".......I want one with the LONGEST FUSE, so to speak!! Like I said, I think I may wait for FACTUAL TESTIMONIALS before spending my hard earned money! I'm sorry if I sound angry(not at all), but it is difficult to convey my feelings on a monitor screen. I am VERY PASSIONATE about these new blocks. I've been a-wishin and a-hoping for years that one would eventually be made. Now there are TWO being made!! I think that I have every right to be excited about both, but indecisive on the choice.

Ok, humm, of course I will.

    Hmmm...

Sorry if I threw fuel on the fire, not what I intended. I'll slink back to my corner now and try to be more patient!

    Grant..

    Good points...

I would base that several thousand dollar decision on the companies credentials, past history, and previous products.

For me, that's a no brainer then..

And waiting till others have built the motors, and you have personally spoke with them to get their experiences, is not a bad idea either.

Don't just rely on what you see on the internet.. plenty of stuff never gets here, due to the fact that most of us don't want to air the dirty laundry in public.

Oh.. the stories I could tell..

    buickdav Kris' other half.

    I love to see competition.............

Its good for everyone involved. Myself included. I may never be able to afford one of the new blocks myself. But when they come out that will mean a bunch of well proven "old" girdled cast blocks will be available to the "little guys":Brow: .

My opinion is that if we get them both(iron and alum.) we are gonna have the best of ALL worlds. The pro stock guys do what they do with iron. Thats 2800 lbs with 500 inchers and 6 second times. But if you are gonna use a blower or nitrous,(this isn't the 80's anymore guys:rolleyes: ) your gonna prolly be using the aluminum block. I did'nt know that TA was actually BUILDING theirs themselves though. Talk about a LOT of new machines and such, for actually pouring a block:eek2: Not to mention the cash-ola put out WOW !!!!! THANK YOU MIKE and SHERRI :TU: .Once again you are coming to bat for the Buick Family. In fact I need to find my TA catalog so I can call an order something just because.............

This is a good time in Buick land and it's only gonna get better yall. It isnt gonna be very long before EVERYONE ducks when they see a Buick drive up.......:Brow: I hope all you big time guys have your orders in with whichever you choose to buy from. I may need that "old used up" iron block like your not gonna need anymore

    later......................................
