This has been in the works for a while. It is 4.5 inches tall from the rear carb flange to the intake gasket surface and will outperform any other 2x4 including the OE. Pre-orders are being filled now so it would be two weeks before others are available.
Looks much like another well known intake such as on my car.... Do you have any other photos from other angles, especially bottom (Top secret reasons :eek2: ) What is the price, how far out is shipping time? Most important, HOW much better than ALL other intakes?
How do we "pre-order" one adn when do you expect it to ship? Flow numbers of this manifold vs Offy vs B262?
new intake I wish they would make a single 4, & a 3x2, version of that manifold. It would sell a few more manifolds. Currently no one makes a single 4 aluminum for a nailhead. :Brow:
$399 is the price listed on the NW speed website: http://www.nwspeedequipment.com/index.php?cPath=24_30_41&osCsid=09a3c3ea6efcbb01578759d884781543 It does look like an Edelbrock clone! :bglasses: Be aware the old Edelbrock B262 is higher than the stock 2x4.....7/8" in the rear, and 1-3/8" in the front. Carb spacing is also different, so the stock 2x4 air cleaner won't fit.... It's nice to see somebody making some parts for us nailheaders! :beer
Much better price than what the B262's have been selling for. Plus you won't feel guilty porting these new ones out. Not that it stopped me on my Edelbrock. Yeah, a GOOD 4bbl intake in aluminium would be great, something that would accept Holley and Carter style, maybe even a......spreadbore! ONce upon a time, a company nemed Creitz made intakes for SBC that was the same basic casting but with various carb set ups machined on the top plate area. The single 4bb, the 3x2 and the 2x4 all were the same basic manifold with different openings. I am not sure if this was the MOST efficient flowing setup but made manufacuring and machining simple.
Thanks for the photo. I have seen the listings in older Offy catalogs but never seen a real manifold/or photo. I wonder if it is the same casting as the AFB style manifold but machined for spread bore. I think this may be the case as most AFB manifolds I have seen have the 'swell' near the rear/secondary butterfly openings. But an aluminium single spreadbore manifold woild be a hot setup for those who don't want to go 2x4. (I don't understand their thought process, more carbs=more better, right?)
OK, sorry for the delay in response. I was packing for the swap meet when I posted this and had to leave for 6 days. Our initial feedback has been very good. Horsepower increases have ranged from 25-40 on stock engines. I have had a 10hp increase over the b262 here. We will be sending a manifold to Tom Telesco for some third party verification. The manifold weighs in at 14lbs. There will be a tri-power and a single four of the same design in the near future. A pre-order can be placed at any time and will ship by the end of the month as of today. At current rate this will put them on the shelf by May 1st.
One more follow up. This manifold will generate more power when used with a cam and correct timing for a 2x4 set-up.
What about height versus stock? Hi, What about intake height versus the stock 2x4 manifold? I have a couple of 63 Riv's that would look good with a dual quad set up, but anything over stock height makes them too close for comfort in a first generation Riv! Thanks, Tim
OK, here's a stupid question: What modifications do you need to do to the internals (ie. the cam?) for it to accept the extra fuel of a 2x4. I've heard bigger valves are out of the question. :Smarty: Somebody edumacate me :Smarty: By the way, I have a '65 Wildcat conv. w/ a 401. No posi :ball:
On the New single 4 barrel intake, will it have cast in bosses for drilling in injectors. I can see this manifold with injectors and a throttle body to inject these great engines. I have been wanting to do this for a while and I would guess that others would like to as well.
