Valve covers located so I'm all set guys!

Looking for a cheap set of Valve Covers from T/A, Poston, etc . . . .

They need to clear Roller Rockers but don't need to be in Mint Condition.
Simply need a set to use at the Dyno from time to time. . . . .

They are nice covers. I like them a lot. He got back to me pretty quickly, by e mail and phone.

If they are the Poston ones....The only downside is the requirement of using cap screws due to clearance issues. iirc

I'm not sure that is true. I think the original stock bolts, possibly without the washer spreader plate (not sure what to call it) will work. They only have a 3/8" head.

I bet 1/4" ARP Bolts would work also since they have a small head as well?!?!?

    Hi Todd,

I may have a set of those laying around. Maybe we can do some bartering. I will let you know ASAP.

Use 2 gaskets or the news ones that TA sells

I put one cover on my engine today. The stock bolts without the spreader worked just fine. Even a 7/16, 1" hex headed bolt worked. Plenty of room.

These covers clear roller rockers easily. Maybe 72STAGE1 has another reason for the 2 gaskets sealing wise, but not for roller rocker clearance. BTW, I used the TA gaskets. They are very nice gaskets and look like they will do the job in a superior way.

Larry, is it to late to post up a pic of the TA gaskets? Better yet do your thing and post up the direct link to the part :)

Ahhh man how did I miss that posto_O! Thanks Larry I'll be ordering those for sure! And yes those pics are perfect:). I have the same poston covers Larry so I assume by your comments the new TA gaskets work great with them?

Yes, looks like a good match. The gasket doesn't come all the way to the edge, so they are difficult to see without getting down there and looking directly at them, that's why Mike's pictures are exceptional to show how they look installed. They are just like the reusable transmission pan gasket in my 98 Riv, which I have reused at least 5 times since owning the car.

I have a few pairs of the rubber gaskets that you get with most kits but they leak sometimes so these sound like a good solution.

The flat rubber ones that come with most tranny kites are not the same as the orginal ones GM uses.......like these TA gaskets they have a steel core which keep the gasket from spreading out. They have compression limiting areas around the bolts to keep you from crushing them from over torque......and the flat area actually has 3 or 4 ribs so there is multiple pressure points and ribs fluids to get through to get out actually.

I always use the orginal gasket again if it still there........if not the right stuff
