Definitely WildBill, I'm getting tired of using the E-brake for my TOO SHORT Sunday put around the block!!!

Having brakes again would be nice:grin:

Thanks Bill, I should have been more clear about needing one for power brakes! Did you get your coin back?

I'm actually still looking for a master and the piston which is not part of the master. The piston is real ugly looking!!, or the whole damn booster and master assembly. Jeez, I forgot how funky these 61's are! The piston attaches to the brake pedel rod:Dou: Doesn't detract from the coolness, or my love of the car:grin:

John, the '61 is an animal all by itself. If the brake fluid is running into the power booster do them both at once as the booster will go bad in short order. I & others (the junk yard pic) have used ones you could send out to be rebuilt. If you went this route to begin with on your original parts you would be driving the car by now. You also have the option of putting on a newer booster & double master assembly from a newer car. Then if you have a problem in the future parts would be more readily available. This is not brain surgery, all that has to be done is attach the booster to the firewall. I would also bet that is you take some measurements you will find that you have many choices.
    Just my dimes worth.

Thanks Tom, I'm looking for OE stuff, at the same time I'm cheap and do all my own work, and yes I have a killer manual disc setup on my 70 chevelle. It's a hybrid system from different OE years that works great, and has excellent pedal feel to it. My LeSabre has 65K original miles, I was the first guy to change the OE fuel filter and OE spark plug wires. My Dad(God rest his sole) gave me the car back in 87 when I was 22. It's bright red with a black convertible top(original) that looks mint but is cracking at the seams. I keep it down all the time now, but the original owner had stated that he never lowered the top. So I am the first guy to turn every screw on this car, and to me this is a huge responsibility. In my humble opinion the 61 is the last of the classy Buicks, and an engineering marvel, but I love all Buicks!! I love watching all the tri-5, Chevelle, Mustang, Camaro guys etc... eyes light up when I pull into the local weekly cruise spots! Sure is nice to be a little different:)

My master has some serious pitting. Do the rebuilders sleeve these things or what???? Guess I'll have to send it out. Can you recommend someone?

Yes John, they will re sleeve & also rebuild the master & the power booster. Better to get it all done at once. I have been using this place for over 20 years. White Post Restorations/ 1 Old Car Drive/ White Post Va./ 540-837-1140 www.whitepost.com
