okay i'm new to the buick scene. i was at my girlfriends grandmother over the weekend only to find out that she has a 1975 Buick Electra stowed away in the garage with 40K original miles on the clock. along with the original winodw stickers and ever plate that has ever been on the car! she says the car has only been in the rain once in it's life off the car lot. and she said they got it inside and hand dried the car lol. and i mean this car is cleaner than an operating table. my mouth almost hit the ground and i'm a CHEVY guy! the car is just down right ugly but it's the nicest unresto car i've ever seen. all it needs is a battery and good gas. she said that before the battery died she would go out and start it every week.

okay so here's my question. she is looking to sell the car and she would like to get 15K out of it would this be a plausible price, or maybe 10K all my chevy frineds say no but i think it is not that far from possible. what da ya all think?

Some pics would help but I would suggest browsing ebay and autotrader.com
to see if you can come up with a some comparisons.
Color combo? Two door? My guess would be $7 to $10k, but I'm no expert.
A lot harder to sell than muscle cars these days.

I don't see a location with your name, but if you're not living in Europe or Australia, 10 K is a wee bit too much.

Does the car look just as clean as this 1978 Riviera, recently for sale on eBay ?

it is a 4 door and the exterior is a tanish color with brown interior. i live in indianapolis indiana. 15 or 10 did seem a little high to me. i looked on ebay a few days ago and most of the buicks on there were old "project" car that really needed some attention lol. there really weren't any similar in condition. it's kinda a shame that not many people would pay good money for one of these cars. becuse even though they are ugly they are really neat cars. and ic an imagine that they would be fun to drive. i know beforwe i bought my 78 coupe deville i wasn't all into caddies that much but after driving that thing around i love'em.

I don't think the mid 70's Electras are ugly...... :af:

Let's see for how much they will go in another 15 years,
Who liked a '64 Impala at the end of the 80's ? And look how popular they are nowadays.

Maybe a bit of cursing on this board, but still: if I had to choose (not talking $$$) between a GSX and '75 Electra the last one will be the one in front of my house...(matter of taste)

Same thing here: I don't care for small cars, full size rules :bglasses: :TU: :beer

Why don't you post a few photos of the Electra ? :TU:

    Here's board member RIVI1379's 1976 Electra coupe, he's asking US$ 5200.00 or best offer:
    (also a 40,300 miles car)

Is your Electra better compared to this one ?

I love traditional full size cars.

Me too. But I would probably take the GSX, sell it and buy several big Buicks!
I've owned A-body cars before, a little cramped on leg room for me.

Interesting point is that this board is named V8 BUICK, but it looks like it's more Skylark/GS based ?

Wagons, Regals and big Buicks are listed under Our "other" cars",
but is the number of Skylark/GS owners really much higher ?

    Maybe a little POLL ?

(Not that the way the board is now should change, just out of curiosity :TU: )

If my memory serves me correctly....

From what I understand, Jim started this board after there was some discontent and fighting among a number of GSCA members and the club.
(I think they were charging money to use the club board?)
So, this board was started so people had a place to go to discuss Buicks without all the B.S.

So, many of the initial members were GS / Skylark owners.
I happened to stumble upon this board about 10 days after it was started.

    I see, Dale :TU:

    But what do you think:
Are there more Skylark/GS, or more big Buick members today ?

The Skylark/GS A-bodies were only produced for a few years (if you look at the 103 years of Buick history), so maybe the answer is already clear.

i don't mean to step on toes. i'm just saying i don't find that year too attractive and i have never net anyone else that is going nuts just to find one. not that there isn't someone that wants a car like that. i'm simplay suppling my opinion. sorry if i offended anyone. besides if i were given a choice between some GS or the electra i'd probablly take the electra simplly becasue less people have electras of that vintage around my house than a GS. i like to be diffrent :bglasses: even if it comes at the expence of good looks

Don't take it all too seriously Bryan......

But what about the photos and my question/link to the other Electra ?

good i was hoping that there was a sence of humor on this board. like i said i'm new herer and i hate getting on forums and stepping on people toes when i'm still a noobie. sometimes people are cool and other times people cuss at you over the internet, WTF lol. oh well

as far as picas go i can try to get some but i havge no idea when i'll be over there next. but i'll try and remember next time we go over there. that link you posted that car looks really clean but i think it has been repainted unless did buick put clear coats on thier cars back then? cuz that shine is a good deep shine. but the car i've found is probablly close to that condition.

A clean waxed car with original paint, bad light and a low resolution camera can also cause photos with a shine like that.

Anyway, if you can find the time, take a few nice shots of the Electra and post them on the board :TU:

I think 15k is a bit high, Maybe 6-8 would be more reasonable. Just my opinion though. If I had the money Rivi1379,s car would be in my garage.
