Were did you get the cowlhood?

    Is it a Chevelle hood?

I looked at VFN and WS and they don't list one for a Buick.

    Keep up the good work!

    Robert,
VFN will take a Skylark hood and graft any scoop on it for you. Just send them an e-mail and ask for availability and prices.

No it is not a chevelle hood :af: .

I got the hood from David Parris, (it was about 3/4 complete) and I took it to my friend at the body shop, and he finished it off.

I got STG1TE heads with a SP2a intake the carb just fits under the stock GS fiberglass hood.

I want to use the 2 inch spacer under the carb to get the last power out of the engine.

How high of a cowl scoop do I need to make it fit?

I don't want it to be to high so you can still look over it.

And yes shame on me thinking that it was a Chevelle hood! :Dou:

Haha. I think that a 4" cowl would work.

Tyler two things that happened to me had a broken posi so i would run a TA rear end girdle. This one cost me $1800 WELD the axle tubes to the diff housing.Mine broke the 2 spot welds and drove the pumpkin into the floorpan. From tow bills to buying housing swapping gears new dr shaft, pinion yoke and so on was the 1800.Alot of money i could have used for something else and i was told more than once to weld it.My iron head motor made about 500-520hp when this happened on a ladder-bar setup.

I have no idea. I am hoping for somewhere in the 10s at my altitude (Last time the density altitude was 8000'). My red car ran a 12.51, so with 1000 less lbs. it should run right around an 11.50 on motor. I think with the nitrous it will push it into the 10s (at 8000'). Maybe even faster, I am going to do a 150 shot after I get the kit for the rest of the season maybe, then I am going to rebuild the engine, install a girdle, and spray it even more. :TU:

    Maybe a 2 stage kit? :eek2:

Of course I can't even run it in the 1/4 mile until I get some taller slicks :Dou: .

    Anybody got any 30x10.5x15 slicks?

Altitude correction is always a guess, but it sure stinks to be running out here on the high ground and have bad air. A typical day at the track for us is 3800' true altitude with 100+ temp. So the computers were showing 8000+ air density feet.

Normal conversion calculators would say about a full second off what time Tyler post if converted to sea level.

I think Tyler's guesses should be about right based on what we know the motor will put out and the weight changes. Can't wait to see it go down the track. Someday, we will travel to something closer to sea level. That would be fun!!!!

I have no idea how you could race in 100+ temp.I would never know what my car would run @ that temp cause I'd stay home in front of my air conditioner. We are lucky here we have good air for the most part.I've been @ 1/4 but not racing on the mainland and heard guys tell me the air is below sea-level and hoping to run a new personal best.

The air sucks around here! Thats why cars seem a bit slower here in west texas.

What's the Texas humidity like during the summer months?

Not really humid, but rediculously hot. Last week it reached 107.

Tyler can't post with an update. Our internet is down from a big storm that came through this weekend.

The drivetrain is in. Wiring complete, just need some checks. Master cylinder and lines getting finished up now. Waiting on the -10 fuel line from Summitt, which should arrive this week.

Still needs fiberglass bumpers. If you know of somebody that has some, let us know.

I have a 1970 fiberglass front bumper. Are you guys coming to the BPG Nationals?

I'd like to know what size rim, BS and rear tire are you running? I have centerline convo pros 15x8.5 with 5"bs and M/T 30x9 ET Drag slicks and I have a slight frame rub. I'm thinking about a new set of rims and slicks for the back. My car is a 72 Skylark.
