Well, we took the car to the track on saturday, and I was pleased with the results. Fastest pass was an 11.92 at 113 mph. All we did was take the engine from the GSX, and put it in this one. I guess that the weight difference really makes a difference. :TU: I got to experience the "a-body shuffle" My next investment will be aftermarket upper and lower control arms, and a drag race sway bar! And bigger wheels and tires.
anybody notice his car number? He couldn't figure out what the year model was. It is put together from many different sources.
Great work guys congrats.Hope it was fun and i know the feeling of stock suspension as-well Tyler and I'm glad it's gone.Mark i did notice the # on the car. Jamie
Hope you get that traction you are needing. On a good note,I got the DZUS's on the driver side today and the pass side fender brackets installed before I ran out of time. They look good and weren't all that hard to install. I'll try to update my pics tonight...Thanks for the pics!
The air density at the track was HORRIFIC (over 7000'), it ran about the same times it was running 12.00. We were there until 3 in the morning because grasshoppers decided to attack the track, It was solid all the way down the track with grasshoppers! The track owner decided to run 1/8th mile instead of 1/4 because of grasshoppers. I was pretty upset.
At the last minute we decided to go over to Abilene for their 1st race after reopening. I am pretty happy with what the car ran. I still have a little bit of a traction issue, but no biggie, I just have some more suspension tuning ahead of me. Ran a best of 7.3980 @93.01. That was with a 1.66 60 ft. and slightly hazed the tires on the launch. I asked my buddy there with the DA calculator how bad the air was, and he said the DA was just over 5500", so it was MUCH better than hobbs. Next thing on my list is to get the car painted! This temporary paint really didn't turn out too good lol. <TABLE id=ncode_imageresizer_warning_1 class=ncode_imageresizer_warning width=640><TBODY><TR><TD class=td1 width=20></TD><TD class=td2 unselectable="on">This image has been resized. Got my fiberglass rear bumper mounted. Now I need to work on the front bumper. I made the brackets that hold them, instead of using the stock ones.
Working today on lowering the front of the car, and mounting the front fiberglass bumper. I am thinking about making the bumper brakets for this one also. I will post pictures if I get it lowered some.
Got the front end down a little bit (It looks a whole lot better). Finishing up the front fiberglass bumper today. Pictures later. Also we are going to try to get this thing painted yellow before the Buick VS. Ford in a couple of weeks.
I cut the springs. I have the pictures, just have not uploaded yet lol. I will here in a few minutes.
