    68riviera430 BRRRRAAAAP!

So, as many of you have probably seen because of my other thread, I just got a new 62 electra 225. I just got it home today. I will be posting before and after pictures and asking general questions etc.
First, it doesn't have a body by fischer tag under the hood, but it does have a tag on the driver door that reads I2002787. What does that mean?
Also, since it is a nailhead, are the cylinders numbered the same way as my other buick.
I can't wait so I'm going out to start going at it right now. Ill keep this thread updated regularly.

It means its a 1962 Electra built at the South Gate,Ca. assembly plant,
and a low number build too.

Nope, w/o the Fisher body tag, no more data can be decoded. Hopefully it turns up somewhere in the car.

Well maybe its just a coincedence but the paint code I for that year looks a lot like the color you can see in spots they missed painting. Willow mist poly.
I looked on the firewall where the tag for my riviera was. It wasnt there. Itll kind of eliminate the point of me repainting it its original color with original engine etc. if I cant find the tag...

The cowl tag is on the firewall, not the cowl (I think, for 62). Check there before you assume it's missing.

It's on the driver side cowl area on top of the firewall, visable with the hood open.

Gah I feel dumb. Here's the tag info
    Style 62-4839. Body BC178
    Trim 802. Paint JJ
    ACC 1

    Anything from this?

It's a '62 Electra 225 four door hardtop, it was the 178th '62 Electra four door hardtop built at the South Gate, CA plant.

Green cloth and vinyl seats/trim, originally Willow Mist.

Accesories should be a letter followed by a number, like C6, or D1. 1 isn't anything.

Sweeet. And the JJ on the trim tag means that it was a willow mist car with a willow mist top?

also wondering if duplicolors "engine enamel"makes the right color paint for the nailhead in a rattle can

Yup, JJ means the whole car was Willow Mist.

Engine enamel is preferred because it is easily accessable.Maybe the right one is DE 1634 GM/ CHRYSLER LOW?

Also from what I understand the aircleaner and all other black pieces under the hood are supposed to be SEMI gloss black right?

Gloss black for the air cleaner, semigloss or satin for the rest of the black stuff.

Do you need the engine paint NOW? CARS can ship it the same day, and you will have it within 2 weeks from the East coast. They really have the right green for your engine.

This is what their paint looks like on a 60 nail...

Adrian, Adam's right. For it really to be the right color you need to order it from CARS Inc.

And he's right, gloss on the air cleaner, semi/satin on everything else.

Cool Car Adrian! Building the Riv and the '62 at the same time? Good for you!

We did a Scarebird disc swap on my buddy's '62 Electra ragtop a few years ago and it came out well.
