Hey Randy, I went to a place in London Ontario called Midway. It took them about 2 weeks, and was about 800 dollars out the door. I can see why people get bumpers painted! It looks really good though. They straightened it, fixed a hole and did a real nice chroming job.

    wow - $800!

I had my rear bumper done for less than half of that...but it was in pretty good shape.

The things we do for our cars! BTW, looking really good. The color fits the car well.

    rear rechrome

Thanks Trevor - I'll get a quote from them, I also have a place in Montreal, that does good chrome work at a reasonable price.
They did my front bumper, and I thought the rear was acceptable till I got the front one on the car
    - shoulda got the rear done too ! :Dou: :beer :TU:

    Looks great!

Trevor, the car looks wonderful. :TU:

I did a color change on my 72 Riv from vintage red to stratomist blue. It made me decide to NEVER to do a color change again! :Dou:

    Thanks for sharing the pics.

    Sweet.

Hey, did the 71 Rivs come without the side trim, or did you remove that? My 73 has side trim running pretty much the entire length. I think the car would look "cleaner" without it, so am debating removing it. That screw in trim always seems to build rust under it up here, anyhow.

Hey Nick, as I understand it, the side trim was a 72-73 thing, I', not sure if it was an option in 71 or not, but my didn't have it when I got it.

I hope you meant 3000 dollars, I don't know anyone who work does paint and body that cheaply! Or did you spend six months fixing their $300 paint job?

I took the TOP (well I took the whole car but you get the idea ) to a custom shop in Hamilton. It cost 300 dollars. Thew whole car? 6k.

Where is that place? There used to be a place that would weld, straighten and rechrome bumpers for 300-400$ but that place no longer exists... I can't find someone who would rechrome my 65 Wildcat's rear bumper for less than 800$ now. I don't want show chrome, just want to have some rust fixed and a decent looking bumper...

    Nice boat

The side trim was standard on 72 and 73 Rivs. It did not come on the 71 Rivs. According to my "1971 Buick Advance Production Guide", Buick sold rolls of adhesive trim that could be added on. Gorgeous Riv, by the way, though I hate to see a Vintage Red one lose its coat, as I am partial to that hue. (See mine in progress at www.ronruelle.com/riv.html )
