Oops.sorry.Summit or jegs has a bolt on stop at the linkage, pretty reasonable.Last year at the BPG in columbus we had to slow down an 11 sec convertible since he didn't have a roll bar, after a few trials he had it down and real consistent.
I had the same issue with the turbo camaro. what i did was take a lot of timing out and shifted at 3000 rpm. and if you have and issue like tire slippage you could hold the gear longer to take the stripe. Just a thoughto No:
Thinking about changing the rear gear from a 4.10 (30" rear tire) to a 3.23 so I can also run the 1/4 mile. I know the BBB doesn't like alot of RPM and I'm thinking a 3.23 will keep it in a strain longer (it seems to me the BBB likes it) and it will give me the option of running both the 1/8 and 1/4 mile. I think the car may even run faster with this gear. Anyone see a problem with this?
I calculate with 6% torque converter slip with 3.55 gear and 30" tire you will be 128mph at 5400rpm in the 10.6 - 10.90's in the 1/4. and the 1/8 will be 6000rpm in 2cond or 4200 in 3rd. I think you 1/8 will suffer if you go clear down 3.23. How many R's can you go before shifting?
Hey Big L, Have you run it since the first post? I don't remember, was the car street legal? Still runnin' good?
Try taking out 4degrees of timing maybe 6. The car will probably slow down a lil for you to make the field. It would beat spending money.
I haven't run the car again. There is a big dollar bracket race at Beech Bend this weekend (pays $10,000) to win each day (Fri-Sat-Sun) but its for cars with delay boxes, etc. You can enter and run a footbrake car but your just wasting your money ($200.00 entry fee/No buy backs). As far as street legal, no is the answer but it could be made legal again pretty easy.
It only got up to 46 degrees with some wind so I didn't go. Wish I had gone now as my buddy says there were loads of people/cars out there.
I had forgot that Beech Bend also has a test and tune most Tuesdays so I took the ole Regal out tonight. I took the power valve out of my 1000Hp and squared it up with 90 jets. The car did pick up some, 6.78 @ 100.85mph (previous best 6.81 @ 100.63mph) and one pass at 6.79 @ 101.09mph but I think the carburator is to fat. I'm thinking maybe 86's square and go from there. Anyone else running a 1000HP and if so what jets are you running? Any comments welcome. Oh, I almost forgot. I weighed the Regal tonight and it weighed 3315 lbs with me aboard and a full tank of fuel, I weigh 205 lbs. I thought the car was lighter than that.
that is some impressive times your running was curious what convertor are you using? if you don't mind me asking. Brent
Neil Chance that I bought from another V8 Buick board member. I think the stall was 3600. This is the first time I have run one (usually run Coan convertors) and I am happy with it.
I ran my Regal at the Mopar against the rest of the world bracket class at Beech Bend this weekend. Got my butt handed to me first round while running against a max wedge car 1st round. He was .015 on the tree and ran dead on with a 6. I was late on the tree and backed off to a 6.82 on a 6.80 dial in. Second round I ran a Henry "J" that was dialed in at 5.80, me 6.80. He went -.063 red and I went 6.77 (best ET to date). Third round I was late again but ran a 6.786 on a 6.78 dial in but couldn't get there. I'm so used to running my 6-cylinder Regal and deep staging that I've got to adjust to normal staging again with this car and leaving on the first flash of the last yellow. If things don't get better guess I could still deep stage, see plenty of the last yellow, and leave just off idle. Guess my bad reaction times confirm why I failed my eye test at work last week. The lady doing the eye test said I couldn't see up close. She was good looking with a low cut blouse on, I didn't have any problem seeing that? p
