They are apparently used TA Stage 1 springs, and I’ll check with the machine shop today when I pick up the heads. I asked for a good deal of spring pressure (320-280) to handle a stout cam if necessary
I bit on the heads Ben passed up, but will vouch that shipping is a killer. These things are heavy. Good low lift numbers make for a good runner in the mid range and good torque. Does anybody know what a stock small valve head flows?
So it turns out that 225.5 was not the peak flow at all, just at .500 lift. It probably had another 10-15 CFM in it by .600 This head will be a freight train with the small cross section and better bowls. I’m a bit annoyed that he didn’t flow it higher, cause it has valve springs that will support that lift, and left some potential of the heads on the table. As for the exhaust, strong low numbers with the small valves. All ready to go:
Fastenal should be able to ship them for a reasonable amount. Hell I only pay $450 to get complete motors shipped from AZ and TX to Alaska.
If you don't mind me asking...How much does flow testing cost and do they simply choose one intake and one exhaust to do?
Flow testing was between $75 and 100 (I forget, I’ll have to look at the sheet and update you) and they simply pick one intake and one exhaust
If someone has a worn out set of stock heads, these would be a great replacement at low cost to keep your car on the road without waiting for machine work.
