Another Mass Buick Hi everyone, I live in Chestnut Hill and I've got a 73 Centurion convertible. I've been all over the state and if you drive a Buick I'd notice. I love the idea of getting together for a cruise when the weather turns reasonable. I usually bring the convertible out of storage in April, pick a few projects to work on and hit the road in May. John
About Hebert's Hi.. My brother (a 'late model Corvette' person..) got some info from the Corvette bulletin board. Yes, Hebert's was sold. But they still plan to have the summer cruises. We'll just have to wait and see..:bglasses: Stanley PS..I say 'from Boston' in my signature to give the out-of-staters an idea where I am.. For you 'insiders'..I am in Canton.
Hi All, Mark from Chicopee, MA near Springfield. Great to see all the Mass Buicks. I have a 67 Skylark and now that the snow is here, I guess I won't be cruising for a while. Hope to hear from all. Mark
Hi Rob, Yes that was my car in Belchertown on RT202. I have had it for almost 2 years. Looks like your into some serious power!! I also noticed your response to the member thinking of joining the Air-Force and I agree with your reply! Best thing I ever did with my life. Thanks for the reply, Mark
Hi, I decided to "revive" this forum on Mass Buick owners as I am new to the party. I reside in Greater Boston and own a '72 GS455 convertible and (don't hate me) a 1970 Chevelle SS454. I've been into musclecars for it seems like forever. I've been to Riley's Roast Beef, Nick's in Natick, and assorted other venues in greater boston. We always go to the Dedham extravaganza in July and get sunburn like everyone else. There are also some great lawn events at the museum of transportation in Brookline. Check them out at http://www.mot.org I am excited to see that there are a lot of New England based enthusiasts on this board. I would really look forward to a local gathering in the Spring/Summer. I wonder if there is interest in gathering in the winter for some bench racing and talk? We all miss driving our vintage cars, and perhaps a local get together would lift the winter depression that always sets in this time of the year. So maybe it's worth doing? Anyway, just wanted to say "hi from the new guy." You can see my cars at http://community.webshots.com/user/musklekars MG
Welcome.. MG. A get together in the Spring would be a great idea. I attended a Summer picnic (it rained!) of the BPG in NJ last year..it was a lot of fun to meet and greet everyone..lots of good stories and info. BTW..your '72 'unmolested' CA car looks super..what great original condition! Stanley
MG- what section of Boston are you in? I'm in Forest Hills. I grew up about a 15 minute walk from the Endicott Estate in Dedham. Great show:TU:
I remember trying several times last year to get the Mass Buick people to come to cruises or get together for a buick meet and very few people actually showed up! Lets hope we can get serious about it this spring as i plan to have my BUICKS out in force!
I did indeed sell her But i have a deposit on a 70 stage 1 4 speed car (GSX stripes and decals) bieng reassembled from a frame off resto and another grand national as well! See you in the spring!
I live in Rehoboth, MA. I've owned my '70 Stage 1 convertible for 30 years and have several other GS's. Just a note on machine shops in MA: I sent two Buick 455's to Precision in Marblehead, MA. The main line on both blocks was done incorrectly (over .005" clearance!) and the cranks were both ground beyond spec. Sent them back, got them back a second time out of spec. They are now at another machine shop trying to be corrected. Aside from that, they are very nice people and I sent five other engines there in the past and had no problems. Look forward to hooking up with some of you Buick guys this season. Dennis
I can vouch for TC Auto Machine in Waltham Ma. Talk to Tom, he not only was up front, honest, reasonably priced, and on-time with his work, he did a superb job for me. I have a lot of resepct for his work and his ethics, I recommend him to everyone.
You're right up the street!! Dennis, Where in Rehoboth are you? I'm right on Rt. 138-Broadway, in Taunton...have I seen your car before? What's the color scheme? If you've lived there as long as you've owned the car, you might know a good friend of my family's, Paul Donnelly of Taunton. He's owned his car for over 30 years, the original owner, as a matter of fact....good to have some more Mass. owners aboard.....:Brow: :Brow:
Re: You're right up the street!! [QUOTE Paul Donnelly of Taunton.[/QUOTE] i met Paul yesterday, real nice guy. i went down there yesterday with Big Dave Hanlon he bought a couple of parts cars off him and i bought a rear seat and door panels from his son. can you say black stage 1 with a power moon roof.
John, Paul's been a family friend for over 30 years. He was a mechanic at a local Buick dealership here in Taunton when my parents met him. He's the original owner of that car. When he bought it, it was that deep green (Sherwood, I think) with a vinyl top...and NO options other than the Stage 1 package. Every option in that car, he added over the period of the last 15 years, including that funky power sunroof. I asked him why he didn't go back to original and his answer was, "I wouldn't want it if I restored it back to the way I bought it. It didn't come with anything!" Hey, I say, good for him! He's the original owner and I guess he can do anything he wants to it...plus, I know he has NO intention of ever getting rid of it. He did a hell of a job on it if you ask me. Was it running? Last I knew, he was getting the motor back from the machine shop. He's got a nice little set up in that garage, huh?
Brett, I moved to Rehoboth two years ago from Barrington. I used to drag a Buick at NE Dragway in the early '70's (still have that one also). I used to go up there with St. Angelo Buick. (In 1969 he raced the Summer Nationals at Englishtown with a brand new '69 GS Stage 1 and won his class) There was always a guy at N E Dragway from Fall River that had a white '70 Stage 1 HT, which was all stock. My 70 Stage 1 convertible was registered in Fall River in 72. It was stolen in Brockton in early 73 and later recovered in Boston in September 73. I bought the car in November 73. I'd like to find the original owner. The one I now drive around sometimes is my black 71 original Stage 1 HT, white interior. I took it to NE dragway a few times at the end of the season in '02. I live south of 44 in Rehoboth. Email: tecit99@hotmail.com Dennis
